Gotta give it up to Santa Cruz. Great win for him, Mares was game but ultimately succumbed to the better fighter tonight. I'll just go sit in the corner and swallow my pride.

Santa-Cruz stepped up well in a very entertaining fight. These are the kind of fights that keep people tuning in. I think Mares just didn't have the power to really rattle Santa-Cruz and Santa-Cruz adjusted well. Still great fight with nearly 2000 punches thrown. Can't beat that.

And the Ceja-Ruiz fight was golden.

I agree it wasn't really a skillful back and forth masterpiece like the Morales/Barrera fights but it's ridiculous to question their hearts. Mares gave it his all but just lacked the skill to be effective.

Ahck! They should have fought the whole fight like that last 30 seconds! Cruz fought well though and showed some extra wrinkles which seemed to be enough to just throw Mares off.

Good fight, although it didn't quite live up to the hype of what it could have been, as evidenced by some small parts of the fight that were great. I think it was just Mares got tired and sloppy and ended up clinching too much. Came out too quick I think.

Wonder where Mares goes from here? He's still young and fought a hell of a lot of great fighters and there's still more out there for him.
