I'd be very interested in seeing Maidana make a return to the ring, especially on PBC where he'd put on a barn-burner of a performance like he always does. He'd help PBC ratings tremendously. There is no order in the list below. Maidana is coming off 2 losses and hasn't fought in a year. Fighting some of these guys listed below could mean a 3rd loss due to being overweight and inactivity. I believe he needs a tune-up fight first. We might see a Maidana who gasses in under 4 rounds due to cutting too much weight too fast and draining himself. I thought the perfect comeback fight for Maidana was Andre Berto, but Floyd seemingly needed to fight Berto for some reason lol.
Devon Alexander - A rare opportunity to avenge a loss and Devon's clinch tactics may frustrate Maidana again or will Maidana 2.0 be enough to defeat this seemingly regressed version of Alexander?
Robert Guerrero - A comeback fight against a guy who doesn't back down. Fight will surely be fireworks for however long it lasts. Guerrero hasn't looked good ever since his loss to Floyd Mayweather
Chris Algieri - Good test for a Maidana who is out of shape and hasn't fought in a year. It will also show how Algieri deals with a real pressure fighter and not just a come-forward plodder like Provodnikov who's defense is his face. Algieri is also on record saying Maidana punches tremendously harder than Ruslan Provodnikov with EITHER hand.
Luis Collazo - Collazo showed that he could use his experience to trouble Thurman a bit. However, Maidana is an experienced veteran like Collazo himself and if a simple cut made Collazo quit, I wonder if Collazo would have the heart to stay in there after Maidana lands the bombs that usually rearrange his opponent's face
Danny Garcia - Garcia is trying to find validation after his controversial fights with the 75th ranked fighter at lightweight Rod Salka, Mauricio Herrera, Lamont Peterson and fans think he cherrypicked Malignaggi. A win over Maidana would help Garcia regain the fan's respect. However, it's a dangerous fight as he faces the possibility of taking his first L
Shawn Porter - Has a somewhat similar style to Maidana, albeit less tricky and not as experienced, but younger and faster. The possible FOTY for however long it lasts
Keith Thurman - Turning into somewhat of a glass cannon with recent performances. A lot of firepower but doesn't seem to have the mental fortitude to get into a tough fight as he instantly retreats as soon as he gets clipped. Something Maidana would love to do is rough-up and frustrate the fast-rising star. Very good for Thurman's career to get a W but also dangerous.
Kell Brook - Somewhat of a stylistic nightmare for Maidana since Kell is a heavy-handed counter-puncher but we've seen him hurt against lesser opposition. Would be the biggest fight of Kell Brook's career and a Maidana coming off 2 losses and inactivity would make it the perfect time for Brook to look for this fight
Diego Chaves - Maidana is on record saying that when he fought Diego Chaves (they trained together in Argentina), Chaves did not know what to do. Maidana claims pressuring him was the key to defeating Chaves
Amir Khan - Again, another rare opportunity to avenge a loss for Maidana. The first fight was FOTY, and now both fighters have improved drastically from their previous fights. However, with Khan's fight against Algieri, Khan seemed troubled by Algieri's pressure. But maybe Algieri just caught Khan off-guard with his new style. Would be a very interesting fight and a possibly small-scale superfight
Adrien Broner Rematch - I personally have no interest in this rematch, but I've seen many people wanting to see it again. Most people just want to see Broner get beat up and hospitalized again, but there are a few who think Broner wins a rematch because he simply 'underestimated' Maidana.
