  • Comments Thread For: Floyd Mayweather: Golovkin is OK, No Special Effects

WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) is not overly impressed with the devastating run of brutal wins by WBA/IBO middleweight king Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs).

This coming fall is a busy scheduled for pay-per-view events in boxing. Mayweather is back on September 12th against Andre Berto. The following month, on October 17th, Golovkin will face IBF champion David Lemieux in a unification. And then on November 21, Miguel Cotto and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez are likely to collide.

I see Floyd did his usual "I dont really know him, I dont really know his name, I havent seen any of his fights, I've never heard of him" routine. So cringe when he does that.

Triple g is everything Floyd wants....the kos. Floyd keeps saying is is going to ko everyone he fights, but never does. He must realize if he spent less time clinching Pac, he might have ko'ed Pac.

the only reason golovkin is viewed as a threat to floyd is size. if mayweather doesn't intend to fight for a middleweight title then there's no reason to even entertain the fight

There is also no reason to make every sentence Mayweather says in an interview into separate news stories...especially since mayweather has never said anything interesting, articulate or honest in his entire career.

Golovkin - Lemieux would be a scintillating fight. But at the same time it is the worst fight I can imagine. Greedy De La Hoya decided to capitalize his investments quickly. But Lemieux will lose and maybe he will never come back as strong as he used to. I am very sorry for him. It took him a long road to achieve the champion’s belt. He could win many glorious fights. But De La Hoya wants nothing but money :-(

how can you complain about a champion fighting a champion? he may never get another opportunity to win such glory again in his career
