I voted Canelo because I was there and I've never been as excited as I was that night for a sporting event. Being there live is something else.

But his last exciting fight was Maidana I. He had no choice but to stand and fight. I thought it was very exciting.

He's never been in a give and take fight that I would label great, but if we are measuring excitement factor,

Jesus Chavez, ndou, Hatton, Castillo, Maidana, Gatti, corrales...

Chavez I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet... An all out war of attrition, Floyd broke his hand on that guy and finished him with one hand...

Ndou threw everything he had at Floyd and created a whole lot of excitement before the ko..

Hatton was a very exciting fight...you could watch Floyd get closer and closer to landing that check hook flush...until bam. A very hl kd and ko too

Castillo everyone knows about..sort of a workhorse performance from Castillo but it was effective.

Maidana brought sheer destruction against the powderpuff.... Floyd in his old age/higher weights has become a very boring fighter, just being real, but the Maidana fight was thrilling, thanks to Maidana bringing the fight

Gatti and corrales sort of go in the same category for me...how he can reduce such strong proud fighters to nothing was fascinating to me. Completely demoralized, dominated, and demolished them. That was highly enjoyable and exciting.

So what defines a great fight? If it's excitement factor, Floyd has been in several at the Lower weight classes primarily. As far as give and take and attrition, I'll go with the Chavez fight.

[QUOTE=PAC-BOY;15955825]You think Floyd is a great fighter? That says a lot about how ignorant you really are. Try reading the thread idiot. Who gives a shlt about pretty good or competitive. The Key word is "great".
You Floyd clit riders are all the same. When youre not out robbing old ladies or looting stores Youre on NSB claiming how great floyd is just because he has Money.
But the question was dumbass...Whens the last time you seen Floyd in GREAT fight. You havent have you? You failed to mention one. The ones you did mention were In your words, Pretty good"! lmfao...but hes a great fighter thats never been in a great fight! LMFAO![/QUOT

Man get off the gas bro like anyone take your opinions about Floyd serious smh Chump you are the number 1 Floyd hater remember, no one cares what a hater says cause haters lie and troll everytime they speak matter of fact I would never comment on Floyd again if was you cause no one should take u serious with your Floyd hater Caption. this my last time speaking to your hating ass. But real boxing fans my favorite was Hatton Corrales gatti Canelo Cotto Corley, Mosley cause he showed heart after being stunned still ended the round somewhat backing shane up. but I Think my most proud of him fight was Mosley Canelo or Pac or Hatton and D Corrales RIP. the pac fight was ok but Pac excuses which I dont believe ****** some life out that fight but Floyd still did his thang. An the Great performance I love the Corley fight he threw combination and took good shot those was his years building his name but yes there lots of other one similar but thats mine.

But the first Maidana fight was an extremely entertaining/competitive fight.
          Alot of things to learn:
          Hug
          Run
          Buy judges

How can you say he's never been in a give and take fight? Augustus, Chavez, Castillo I, Ndou, Corley, Hatton, Cotto, Maidana I.

You can't expect a guy as skilled as Floyd to engage in a Gatti-Ward.

I don't know about actual fight, maybe Maidana I because he made Floyd work a hell of a lot.

The performance against Canelo was great though. But the last time i watched him and thought "wow" was against Marquez. I know Marquez was blown up at the time and everything but still, Floyd's movement, speed, accuracy, IQ and defence at that point just looked incredible and completely at their peak. He was sharp as hell then. I actually believe around 2008-2009 we would have seen the best Mayweather but he didn't fight. He was still super quick and sharp but also had the ring IQ of an old master, since then his IQ is still there or maybe he even has to use his brain more but his physical skills have gone downhill. It proves his greatness in the ring i suppose, beating guys like Canelo when you are past prime.

Sometimes it's not easy to see the decline when you watch all his fights but when you revisit older fights, you realise he's not even close to what he was in some ways.

The way I see it, a guy with his preservationist mindset ain't gonna be in a Gatti-Ward style fight anyway, so we agree.

I still think he has been in thrilling fights, and I also theorized about how different kinds of fights can be great.

I hate that word preservationist. This was the only style Floyd could be successful with. If he was a ****er, he would have gotten ****** out 2 weight classes ago. It takes sheer will and discipline to stick to a gameplan for 20 years. Specifically in a sport like boxing that drains you physically, mentally, and psychologically, a sport that literally robs you of your body then your mind, and ultimately your soul. Mayweather was able to succeed using his mind. He is merely an exception to boxing's graveyard. Not the rule. For that he should be canonized. In memory of Ali, Dempsey, Chacon, Conn, Louis, Patterson, Pep, Pryor, Norris, Quarry, SRR, Sadler, Spinks, Taylor, Hearns. All great American fighters that are devoid of all their faculties. Mayweather will walk away unscathed. Not just inside of the ring, but more importantly, outside of it.
