Algieri was a guy Khan was supposed to beat easily.
Ruslan was supposed to beat Algieri easy too.

I know it's been beaten to death, but I just don't get this. I certainly think Floyd won by at least a few rounds, but your logic suggests the same about Pac; perhaps he reduced Floyd to a sparring partner. Maybe pac planned to box 12 rounds, maybe Floyd planned to brawl for 12 rounds. No one (who's being honest or isn't deluded) knows.
To me, they both reduced EACH OTHER to sparring partners. Neither did anything truly special. Both of them were intimidated by each other.
If you're a fan of either guy, and you're bragging about that as a dominant win, then you're bordering on obsession.

Anyway, didn't mean to derail the thread completely. Khan-Pac at Wembley in May would be incredible. The HBO 24/7 guts, glitz, & glam would reemerge with the UK maniacs making noise from Across the pond. Even if Mayweather is truly retired, the narrative will be: 'winner gets Mayweather in September'

pacquiao was a buzz saw .. remember. . floyd did exactly what he did to canelo, box the **** outta him.. majority of people thought pacquiaos activity would trouble floyd or even stop him.. but his activity was nowhere to be found because floyd's counters were on point and manny wanted no parts of that.. why the hell would pac plan to box floyd? even roach would tell him that's suicide. . floyd forced him to fight the way he did, that flush right hand he landed in round one made pac think twice about lunging in, and from that moment on he began second guessing himself, that's when floyd took him apart.

Perhaps you're right, and my argument can't get any deeper bc I honestly haven't watched the fight again since fight night--bc it was that boring. I just remember both guys seeming comparatively impotent, in that neither could do anything to really damage the other. They looked like they'd just finished a 5K run rather than a fight.
Anyway, I'll have to go back and rewatch at some point apparently, bc I really did miss a completely dominant performance (or maybe I hold the term 'dominant' in too high of regard (e.g. Mayweather dominated Canelo. To me, THAT was embarrassing, and separated a man from a boy))

P.S. Serious question: any chance you have a gif of that right hand in the first round you're referring to?

Both guys landed a career low in punches. Neither came out of the fight with a scratch on them. It was a light sparring showcase that cost $100 per television screen across America and earned the two inside the ring a combined 300 mil or whatever it ended up being.

The fight itself was a f**king punch line.

Lolwut? After the first round is when Pacquiao kicked into gear and started chasing Floyd all around the ring with reckless abandon. He had Floyd hurt in the fourth round and was teeing off on him. The only thing that had Pacquiao second guessing was which direction Floyd was going to run to next.

One guy fought his fight, and the other guy did not.

Hard to see it any other way really.

I don't follow that logic. So we get a lackluster fight, with neither fighter taking any real damage, and Floyd automatically gets credit bc that must be what he planned for? Please.
Neither guy has faced the other before. Both guys have boxed opponents before. Both guys have gone toe to toe with opponents before. No one knows what the game plan for either fighter was.
Both guys circled each other for 5 years leading up to this fight (for lots of reasons). They continued to do so on the night of the fight, and Floyd got the nod. Cool with me, as life goes on. But Floyd dominated? Come on, man.

                      Mayweather is a pure boxer.

                      Who does he damage ?

If you are one of those guys who only rate punchers, I can see whats up.

Maybe you couldnt see that coming, but many knowledgable observers - including me - picked that exact result 5 years ago.

We all said Pacs output would plummet, just like all of Mayweathers opponents..... we all said that Pac would be stuck on the oustide and forced to participate in a boxing match, just like all of Mayweathers opponents.

                      We all said it ^^
