More Al Haymon power-plays. More Al Haymon blocking fights.

And this is the guy they think is the saviour of boxing.

Kovalev is a Champion and Haymon is a Boxing Pimp

Big difference as Kovalev wants to fight big money fights especially Stevenson. Haymon who is nothing but a controlling pimp for the coloreds is prohibiting Kovalev from getting the big fights he deserves. Example the card in Vegas last week the time of the Kovalev vegas fight. Things like haymon destroy sports and control the weak ones who know nothing and are uneducated and guideless. Sad boxing cannot eliminate the Haymon types and clean up the sport. Example like Quillin giving up his Title belt and refusing a million dollar paydate. DUMB Yet SAD. Boxers with Haymon are haymon's ******.

Had Quillin not signed with Haymon he would have been forced by some network (probably HBO) to fight GGG , knocked out and discarded . His career would be over at that point . Everyone knows that Quillin is a glass chin bum , but when Haymon asked him to turn down the Korobov fight in order to starve his competition (Roc Nation) , of course Quillin should have been and was more than happy to comply . Quillin will make up the money handsomely else where , but owes the extension of his sorry azz career all to Haymon so he was MORE than happy to oblige . Let's remember that Al has a business to run , and if it's gonna run efficiently , he must do anything and everything to limit Roc Nation and other competitors inroads into the sport . Who the *** cares about a Quillin fight being blocked anyway ? If your sitting around waiting for him to fight then something's wrong with u !

If you would not use phrases such as, "the coloreds" your post might receive a better reception from other posters.

I think signing a HBO Exclusive Contract is a AWFUL Career Move! It looks good at first but when you look around and see that the rest of your Division is everywhere else besides HBO, I don't see what a HBO Contract can do for you. Purse Bids would be a great way to force promotions to work together but now you have Networks and Lawsuits blocking those options
I agree but all Kovalev/Duva have to do is sign to a purse bid for one fight (against Stevenson or Beterbiev)...after that they can go back to HBO...

However, if more and more contenders in that division fall under the advisement/financial backing of Haymon, then Kovalev may not have much of a choice left after November 28th...

I see a lot of these dudes keep bringing Haymon name up but skipping over when writer of article eloquently wrote that Duva got krusher to be Stevenson mando to force him to vacate and it backed fired in her face selective reading going on and just attack Haymon

                    500K and 25% of PPV?

                    Assuming PPV is $69.99 and it does 200K buys: $69.99 * 200,000 = $13,998,000

                    A 25% cut is: $13,998,000*0.25 = $3,499,500

So Beterbiev was lined up to make in the neighborhood of $500,000 * $3,499,500 = $3,999,500

They turned down nearly $4 million dollars (potentially) because it wasn't enough money? Uh......the guy has a handful of fights and has never been on PPV before. Sounds like a dumb move, a move that is right in line for PBC boxers when it comes to guys being "advised" about their best interests.

Some might say "How do you know the fight would even sell 200K buys? Say it only sold 100K buys, Beterbiev would still be looking at something like: ($69.99 * 100,000 * 0.25) + $500,000 = $2,249,750......much more than he has ever been paid in a fight before.

Stevenson has no exclusive contract with Haymon or Showtime and is free to fight Kovalev on HBO, which was what Duva was hoping to achieve by installing Kovalev as his mandatory.

That's very different from using a purse bid to block a fight from happening, because you know the other guy is bound by an exclusive contract.

Duva was trying to force Stevenson to fight Kovalev on HBO, or vacate the WBC title.

Yeah, it did backfire on her, but her main objective was to make the fight, not force Stevenson to vacate.
