Sadly, his comments are not so different from a lot of what I read daily regarding haymon.

Unless of course we've reached a point that we really believe posters when they say no ring card girls is something they use to judge the quality of a card.

All pretty much fall into same umbrella if champ and mando can't come to agreement goes to purse bid and that really only happens when the champ and his mando under two different promotional companies that's why most promoters try and line up mando positions with fighters in own stable easier to get agreements and keep title hostage under that promotional company

This would be a completely different situation to the Kovalev/Stevenson farce. There, Kovalev was Stevenson's mando, not the other way round. He had a choice on whether to withdraw from the bid or not, without losing any of his belts.

He doesn't have any choice when it comes to fighting his own mando's, and his contract with HBO must surely take that into account.

And even if they do have the legal right to sue him for fighting a mando on another network, which I doubt, it wouldn't be in HBO's interest to do that. Kovalev is one of their poster boys. Forcing him to vacate one of his titles because of his contract with them would be very bad for HBO's image and standing within the sport.
HBO's contract is they own the right to televise Kovalev's fights in the US, irregardless of purse bids or lead promoters. If Haymon outbids Duva and decides to put the fight on Showtime or NBC, that's a violation of Kovalev's contract with HBO.

I agree heavily that it's in HBO's best interest to allow their champions to defend their titles, even if it's a one fight deal off their network. Otherwise you'll soon see Haymon stripping all their champions, because he can simply post an outrageous bid without ever having to worry about honoring it because the HBO fighter will simply have to vacate. We haven't seen this before because HBO was always the big dog and HBO fighters almost always held the winning bids or had the money to come to an agreement w/o a purse bid.

HBO needs to be pro-active on this situation and change their usual policies - adapt to survive.

If you want to insist on interpreting things such as guys moaning about no ring girls as being motivated by racism against Haymon, then yes, you are going to be reading a lot of comments which, from that very strange perspective, you can spin as racist attacks.

I would think HBO would automatically allow any of their fighters to face a mandatory challenger on a rival network, if they lost a purse bid in a situation like that.

Like I said, the Kovalev/Stevenson purse bid was different, because Stevenson wasn't Kovalev's mando.

Haymon is more Don King a clown who is laughed at. Kovalev is respected. Big difference.
Your as moronic and racist as it gets . Danny Garcia was 19-0 and before he signed with Haymon . Prior to signing with Haymon he had NEVER made over $12,500 in any fight , but now makes millions . Fans have complained for years about boxers getting shafted , God delivered his answer to the problem = Haymon . But because he's black you have issues with it and disguise your racial hate under new guises like "Haymon is ruining these kids and manipulates and controls them to his benefit only"

This statement of yours is the very definition of baseless racist ******ity .

So purse bids are bad? I think signing exclusive HBO contracts are BAD! Kovalev stands to make a ton of money if he could accept Purse Bid from Stevenson and Beterbiev, far more than what HBO pays him that is for sure.

I think signing a HBO Exclusive Contract is a AWFUL Career Move! It looks good at first but when you look around and see that the rest of your Division is everywhere else besides HBO, I don't see what a HBO Contract can do for you. Purse Bids would be a great way to force promotions to work together but now you have Networks and Lawsuits blocking those options

Great post ! I rarely see people on this site questioning the prudence of signing with HBO exclusively , it's almost as if they are beyond reproach . You my friend are a diamond in the rough !

I agree, and it's no different than signing your rights away to Al Haymon (Quillin/Korobov - a scenario where the winning bid went off Haymon's network).

Wait til we see Wilder/Povetikin purse bids going to the Russian promoter....
