Sight unseen of Maidana at 154, I think Lara is too smart, too crafty, but I'd be curious how it all goes down if Maidana can bring on some 1st Mayweather fight level of pressure. I could see it being close & Maidana maybe eeking out a decision. I think Angulo would be a perfect first opponent at 154 for Maidana if he's unable to get down to 147 & then we might get a better idea of what 154 Maidana brings vs Lara & others.

Lara by UD or SD. Lara is a difficult fight for damn near wary boxer in his weightclass. Extremely skilled, and Patient which is a bad combination.

I love Maidana and he is one of my favorites because he comes to fight and never gives up. Maidana throws lots of hard punches round after round. I think Lara beats Maidana much easier than Mayweather did. I think Maidana would still be better off at 140. He looks soft for a pro boxer at 147. He certainly is not a 154 pounder. Lara is a big 154 pounder and he is rock hard at that weight without an ounce of extra weight. He is much bigger than Maidana. Lara is too slick and his footwork is too good for Maidana to trap him on the ropes and pound away as he did sometimes with Mayweather. Maidana wouldn't land much on Lara and Lara would land right jabs and straight lefts very often every round. Lara could stop him but he has very little killer instinct and he is a safety first fighter so I think Lara wins on points by lots of points.
