I expected that was going to be the answer but it's still ridiculous and doesn't change the fact that theres a huge disparity between 10 million (which is a dubious figure) and 30-40 mil. Plus like I said before, Ali had 15 fights before Wepner, against Frazier, Foreman, Norton, Foster, etc etc. Thats 5 fights a year. Tough schedule.

Just for comparison's sake... Mayweather/Cotto was 60/70 bucks SD/HD
Mayweather/Berto is 65/75 bucks SD/HD

Mayweather/Canelo has the same price tag as this fight right now.

He can do what he wants... Berto was gonna get criticized no matter what....but the price points is killing it

They must figure X amount of people will buy a Floyd fight no matter who the opponent is, so they probably figure if they charge $50 it's not going to make a difference. That's the only explanation because I know I'm not buying this fight!

Bottom line is this:

Ali fought Chuck Wepner after Foreman.
PBF fought Andre Berto after Pacquiao.

Both were undeserving opponents and both were big let downs compared to the huge fights that occurred just prior. Sure, you have a few people saying "the era was different" and make general excuses as to why Ali fought someone as terrible as Chuck Wepner, but in the end he fought him, that's a fact. You can have difference of opinions as to why and how it's different, but that certainly doesn't mean the fight didn't happen now does it?

When I read that I laughed, what sort of salesman says that. Clearly he gives no ****s, so hard to fault that sort of approach with this fight.

What sucks is even if I go to a party there will be no action unless I am willing to bet on Berto~ which I am not.

I am surprised 40 years of inflation on 1.5 million only amounts to that (there were some years with huge inflation in the 70's and 80's), but I don't feel like doing that math.

Who cares that isn't the comparison and Ali is considered greater than Floyd for that reason, but that does not mean they don't have some similar situations they were involved in.

But why does that even matter? $10 million dollars is absolutely huge regardless.

Not sure why it's dubious you can calculate the number of what money from the past is compared to in our time. A dollar ain't what it used to be. Literally. A dollar in 1970 is the equivalent of $6.23 now. If Ali got $1,800,000 against Wepner that equals $9,148,519.48 in 2015. A million dollar purse back then was huge. Today it ain't ****. Everyone gets a million dollar purse, I mean Lara got $1 million for fighting Rodriguez for crying out loud.

Floyd deserves to fight whoever he wants after beating Pac. Charging me 75 bucks for it is absurd though.
