Got to say I was surprised when Berto name first got mentioned a few weeks ago but since this is his last fight then he can do whatever he wants to do. Hope his retirement makes everyone at 147 fight each other.

Khan needed to get knocked down a few times by Algieri. If that were the case he would be in Berto's spot right now.

Both Khan and Berto would be good choices if he was going for the 50-0 record next year. But for a career close out fight.....NO!

Berto wouldn't be a good choice now or next year. Vegas makes money on their sportsbook for a reason. Beto is a massive underdog for a reason - bc he has a miniscule chance to win. Khan would only be a 2-1 or 3-1 dog. Maywather is smart when managing his career. He didn't fight Khan for a reason - it's a risk. We know Berto provides very little risk.
Floyd can give all the reasons he wants - that khan needs to beat Garcia first; Berto is more exciting. etc. It sounds all too familiar to when may didn't want any part of pac until it was clear he was well past it. Khan is a risk, so mayweather will try to come up with as many excuses as possible, hoping the public buys into one of them,
And really, it doesn't matter to Floyd bc he is getting his 30 mil guarantee no matter whether the fight sells 300k or 900k

Hahaha Berto won his first title via vacancy in a fight against the A level Freddy Hernandez.

He won his second title in a fight that was actually close when the world class Jan was stopped in like the 4th round due to cuts.

I reckon the plan was to pick Berto to give Floyd a KO win; what a tragedy if Berto catches Floyd with a strong lucky punch much like Marquez did with Pacquiao. And Berto can punch, so he may actually be fighting (an aging) Floyd at the right time.

yea i remember floyd backing out of the fight over random blood testing. .stop it .. and judging by their previous two fights before may 2, floyd was more "shot" than manny was. .he had to walk through fire to beat turtle slow maidana and manny was on a 24 round winning streak beating rios and algieri.. so save all that "floyd waited til manny was shot" BS.. come up with some other lie.

This isn't supposed to be a super fight. It's like someone staying busy. Why can't Floyd be in a regular fight? All the greats fought guys like this. Oscar did it, Manny did it and you can go back with Ali and other fighters. You can't fight a top number 1 guy every fight. You guys expect him to. Did anyone say anything about Manny fighting no name Algieri?
