Berto is a young hungry lion. Floyd is terrified of his black brethren as everyone knows, he should be praised for this challenge. Don't get much blacker than berto

Berto isnt black. He is hatian

And lara definatwly should have been the pick. Floyd dodges chess matches and cubans. . Its flat footers with no defense only..

I see right through floyds lame arce.

I know you're trolling. But I'm not right here.

Andre Berto is on par with the recent opposition fought by all of the welterweight contenders.

Khan, Thurman, Porter and Brook over the past 2 fights have fought Berto level opposition or worse.

None of these guys deserve the fight. Lara is the only one that tries to earn his way.

Someone said: "...Because I believe Floyd beats Lara clearly by UD." Or: "Floyd boxes him easily."

... Lara was my only "option" for this 9/12 fight... Nobody "boxes him easily"... And he has a longer reach as compared to Floyd.

I agree that Lara shoud be his opponent, either him or Brook and Thurman as a third option. Now it would be even greater if he would accept to fight GGG at 154 as GGG was willing to do it and that way Mayweather would get a lot of praise and would be able to prove his greatness by accepting that challenge, but knowing he would never do it, Lara seems as the best option.

This is more about payback for these coward welterweights that have been ducking each other for years hoping for a golden ticket. Every single one of them has taken the east route to protect their hopes of landing the big payday. Their actions have been disgraceful and rewarding their actions would set a terrible precedent for the sport of boxing.

Khan, Thurman, Brook and whoever else has been on a bum of the month streak. Why should Floyd reward these cowards when he's been fighting animals?

Which brings me to Erislandy Lara. A fighter who has a history of fighting top opponents and demanding the toughest challenges available. He's Floyd's 154 mandatory and when comparing his body of work to all other candidates, it's no competition. He acts like a fighter is supposed to and has no fear putting his record on the line. Out of everybody from 147-154, he's the only one that tried to earn the fight in the ring.

With that said, you all crapped on this fight because of his style and as a result, you get what you deserve. A soft touch shoulder roll battle against Berto. He has an exciting, fan friendly style, right?
He had to summon out all of his will to fight Delvin Rodriguez and Ishe Smith in his last two fights.

what has he done since losing to alvarez to deserve a shot at mayweather? he's only viewed as a viable golovkin opponent because of golovkin's lack of options. let lara beat a charlo or andrade before he talks himself into another big pay day

it's clear that this fight is just an exhibition/stay-busy for floyd, so who cares who the opponent is. every other fighter in the world gets a pass on taking fights like this once in a while

I would have been much happier with Lara, GGG, Thurman or Bradley.

Of course Bertorollin aka PBP you make a great point about all the posters that use "excitement" to justify mismatches.

How quickly they changed their tune,

This isn't a shot at Floyd. This is a shot at Khan, Thurman, Brook and Porter. I'd rather Berto get it than any of them.

Lara fought 4 fighters who were top 5 154 pounders at the time he fought them: Trout, Canelo, Molina and Williams. These welterweights haven't faced one top 5 opponent between the 4 of them. I guess Porter/Broom is the only one.
