Comments Thread For: Danny Garcia: I Felt Stronger, Fresher at Welterweight

Brooklyn, New York - Former WBC/WBA junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia (31-0, 18 KO's) made his successful debut in the welterweight division last Saturday night at the Barclays Center when he stopped former two-division champion Paulie Malignaggi in the ninth round of their Premier Boxing Champions on ESPN headliner.

i honestly agree with him. his last few fights at 140 he was completely drained by the time the fight was over. he wasnt capable of fighting guys who had a lot of movement cause it completely drained him. i think there is no question moving up in weight will help his endurance and power. i just hope they make porter vs garcia that match has to happen. i wont complain if either fight a porter or a khan or something like that but porter garcia makes the most sense to me at least

I'm guessing he'll fight Soto Karass next, then Chaves, Diaz, Bundu, step up a bit with Guerrero, then Collazo. Same old story with these Haymon fighters.

I just realized he fought another Salka in Maliggnaggi the other week. It was an absolute mismatch. Like most people who always root for the underdog, I kept fooling myself Malignaggi had to have a Heredia/Memo moment waiting to happen. Halfway into the fight, still nothing. I gave up hoping and just waited for the ref to stop the damage. It was useless hoping against hope.

You have to wonder why they keep making such glaring mismatches. They're so painful to watch.

One of these days this Haymon guy is going to get sued for allowing these mismatches to happen.

Yea, it was pretty evident. You sure as hell fought like it... The way you jumped on the retired boxer now commentator and demolished him sure showed us how fresh and strong you felt...

Of course you feel stronger and more powerful you just went in against someone about as physical as a feather, Garcia is on borrowed time there are more than enough fighters at welterweight that will take him out.
