The purse for the proposed Beterbiev fight in Russia would not be put up by HBO and would be higher than what HBO would offer alone, whether this year or next. Yvon Michel is looking to get to a purse bid which he thinks he can win and force Kovalev to vacate the title. I doubt that is going to happen as this fight would be too big in Russia and even Haymon with his investment dollars cannot go up against the Russian promoters who will be bidding. Haymon would end up losing the bid and Beterbiev will end up with less money than if he was to fight now.

Another mistake by Haymon who thinks he is unbeatable. He is the Donald Trump of boxing.

Number of fights can't be an issue now when it won't be in January when they'll be pushing for a purse bid.

Winning bid is winning bid. 2 russians in russia would be cool to see.

              Why not HBO?

Why would Beterbiev get less money on a bigger bid?

What where the numbers for this one?

Once Beterbiev is having one more fight and becomes the mandatory we would be open to do an immediate fight with the champion in early in 2016. At that moment we are convinced the potential revenues will be much more important then what you can get in November.
So he's saying they think 25% of their bid is better than what Duva just offered.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with this, if Beterbiev becomes the mandatory.

Presumably Michel won't negotiate, and will force the purse bid.

So let's see what happens with that purse bid.

It would look really bad if Kovalev dumped the belt without even going through the purse bid process.

So let's see the purse bid.

Let's see the Haymon/Michel bid, let's see the Duva/HBO bid (perhaps with some Russian money), and let's see if there's any third party bidders that disrupt things.

                It'll be interesting to watch.

haha that could be the single most ****** logic I have read in...well, today. NSB is full of it, but this takes the cake. He's offering him the fight...it's right there.

Dude, quite straining so hard to be a contrarian. Sometimes it's not worth it.

Other times you're gold though, so let's call this a miss and move on

No way Hopkins will take this fight to get a shot at the guy that already beat him. Makes no sense. And one more fight is going to make this fight bigger? Please stop. And he won't get more money. It will play the same way the Stevenson purse bid. Instead of taking the fight you been screaming about for the longest you pass on it to pull a politic move to fight a eliminator instead to force a purse bid. Lame if you are boxing fan how the hell can you support this? This ain't about money he is turning down a career payday. It's about trying to steal a vacant belt rather then fight and beat the champ.
