If Ward said yes I wouldn't have cared. That would have been bull****. That would have been like something out The Twilight Zone, selling your soul to the devil. Glad Ward didn't sell himself or his fans out like that, by accepting that weight while knowing he wouldn't be anywhere near 100%.

Yeah I think it could happen if Ward agreed to 164, but should he?

IDK anymore if I want to see Ward. He ust pulled 300k I believe his last fight. That's not enough. He isn't on Gennadys level. Gennady is a PPV star now and needs to fight elite stars not some bums without credentials who fight on BET TV. So nah, he needs to work and step his numbers up for a shot at Gennady.

Genady won't do it. He wants the money and has little interest in proving anything. Ward's a man of substance. He's beaten better guys than Genady and isn't going to sell himself short to squash some hype job.

If Ward agrees to the CW, they'll change the purse split and ask for more than the 50% they requested. I guarantee it.

I think it's all posturing at this point. Not saying GGG won't fight Ward in the future because I don't think boxers are "scared" to fight other guys but it doesn't make sense for GGG to fight him now and risk a much bigger and let's be honest way more winnable fight against Cotto/Canelo.

GGG star is shining at the moment and unfortunately for Ward he's kind of an unknown to casual fans because of his absence from the ring in recent years despite his great talent.

This will be a great fight, when the time is right, which is not right now.
Off course they would , they got what they want a drained fighter with a big name and a real threat .
On level terms Genady doesnt want it and Ward is not going to drain himself and come in weak , he already knows whats thats like when he fought Dawson , he is not going to let it happen to him .

At 168 GGG knows he is in deep with an elite fighter so he is not rushing into that fight .

Absolutely nothing to gain? Really? So no lineal super middle championship or having Ward(who would be the best name) on your resume, while also beating one of the best fighters out there. How is that nothing to gain?

Ward was stripped of his lineal title by RING Magazine. Ward would want the lion's share of the purse and Golovkin would have a much better payday fighting the winner of Cotto - Canelo in any case. Ward is no longer one of the best fighters out there. He has to get a few fights under his belt again against top 5 contenders before anyone can make that claim. Finally, Ward could not even sell out his home arena even with the aid of giving away free tickets and had to settle for a time buy on BET to get his fight aired.

Ward is hardly a big name in the sport today. Absolutely no point in the fight until Golovkin is ready to move to 168 permanently.

Ward is a big name with the fight people , the insiders the guys that know boxing , they know how good he is and where he stands in the sport , they dont care about what fans want they know the good risky fights .
If GGG wants to use the economics angle he can use the ol " nobody wants its " spiel , but he didnt do that , he used weight , whole different motive behind that stage left from team GGG .
