How would Pirog-GGG had gone?

Really interestingly. Pirog was an awkward fighter with some skill, and Golovkin would definitely have had problems. Ultimately, though, I don't think Pirog was the class of fighter to beat Golovkin. Maybe, though. That was 3 years ago or so when that was talked about. Golovkin might not have been as good as he is now.
Pirog never had half the hype Golovkin does, though.

Golovkin may have stopped him, maybe late but I'd be fairly sure he'd be dominant.
Pirog would have had to try to outbox him over 12 rounds, dealing with his activity and power without a great deal of destructive power of his own. I don't like his chances.
They have a common opponent in Ishida, you can read what you want into that. Maciel the JMW also took Pirog 12.
Just my opinion.

I was just thinking about this last night after watching the Pirog vs Jacobs fight.
For the 5 rounds the fight lasted Jacobs was able to compete and land some nice punches. I had the fight 3-1 in favor of Pirog but the thing is Pirog uses a lot of movement and that would be a mistake against GGG
Honestly I dont think Pirog would have given GGG much problems. I think GGG being the stronger of the two would eventually wear Pirog down and knockout him out in 8.
Pirog was good but GGG is special and perhaps the best fighter today.

Pirog was slick af and I remember him winning a round vs Jacob throwing and landing less. I'd favour GGG but Pirog would have to outbox him over 12 but GGG doesn't give up too many rounds.

Never saw enough of Pirog to judge, injuries just mounted up on him. I'm confident he would be competitive, Pirog will remain an unknown, thought he was gonna be a great fighter after seeeing him KO jacobs. Pirog had a good chin also, I remember Jacobs tagging him good a few times.

It's too bad Pirog pulled out of that fight, would have been interesting.
But I think Pirog's awkward style would have left him a bit like Proksa . Pirog was obviously a lot better of a fighter of course but I can't stop but thinking about how Gennady handled all that awkward movement and angles Proksa threw punches from and how easily he walked him down. Pirog had probably similar power to Proksa so I really don't think anything Pirog could land would really hurt Gennady and keep him honest. So that means his best bet would be to frustrate GGG enough to outbox him. Well that's why I go back to Proksa because Pirog isn't the type of fighter who's winning fights staying on the outside and hitting and not getting hit. He tended to be in punching range while he did his switch hitting with his nifty footwork, but that kinda style is going to leave himself vulnerable to getting walked down by the more physical stronger guy so for me I don't see Pirog going the distance, I see him getting stopped somewhere around 8-12 rounds.
