He already is. 20 straight KOs, 14 straight title defenses. All of you dudes talking about these old dudes, can't even name 5 of Haglers fights outside of Mugabi and Leonard. Can't name 2 of Monzons. Hopkins best 2 wins are against welterweights.

Why is everyone talking about GGG closing in on hopkins title defense record?

He only has 4 defenses of his WBA Super World Championship Title.

He needs to remain at 160 for the entirety of his career and maintain that absolute dominance beating guys like Cotto, Canelo, Andrade, Lara, Charlo brothers you know those guys at 154lbs that will sooner or later surely come to 160.
He'd also do well in adding Andy Lee, Quillin, Jacobs, Eubanks Jr/Saunders to his list to further cement his merit to belong in the ATG of middleweights so my answer is he is verging on it just a good couple more fights but luckily for us GGG is a very active fighter who likes to fight more than 2 times a year usually.

Who did Hagler fight in his reign before Hearns; who outside of the late wins against later champions that title bounced back and fourth, what about Hopkins early wins against equally as good as opposition as Golovkins.
Obelmejias was a good win. He won a 168 lbs title after his loss to hagler. Hamsho was a good defense too.

I mentioned a lot of names , I said GGG has beaten nobody which is true , lots of guys win titles that on face value means nothing .

Im not hating on GGG you little fanboy Im being real about what he has done against who , I like Gennady he has the potensial to be anything but so far he hasnt fought a guy that would come to 1/2 a John Mugabi , its not hard to work this sht out .

Obelmejias' career was built on south american club fighters, he along with Mugabi, Lee, Scypion weren't that special. Hamsho was very good, as was Minter, Antuofermo and Roldan.
