Seriously, Thurman/Khan would do huge numbers for PBC on ESPN or NBC. Why hasn't that been made? Brook/Khan? Porter/Thurman. Throw Kell Brook into the mix and that's just guys off the top of my head. Haymon has a lot more guys to pick and choose from. It's not hard to match the best against the best which is what TV cards should be.

I don't know if I could build a fighter like Top Rank can, I probably can't. I know I can't. But I don't have to be a boxing promoter or genius to know that good match ups draw ratings.
Maybe Haymon is waiting for that until he has advertisers. Maximizing profit-rightly or wrongly-has always been the #1 goal.

Agreed, but if you start there you can argue its all downhill. Would Khan/Algieri and Thurman/Ghost be ok if khan/Thurman happened already?

That isn't true at all. Stars draw higher ratings and sell more than good fights do. Haven't you been looking at the ratings?

Stars in good fights draw the biggest ratings, stars have more viewers than quality fights do because casual fans drive ratings and they tune into names moreso than fights.

A regular schedule.. Their cards are all over the place, different days, times, channels...

PBC should have just bought Friday night fights on espn for the next 2-3 years, instead of buying spots all over the place...

If pbc was on TV every Friday on espn at 8pm, then it would be much easier to build a casual audience following..
Bellator and wwe both used this model to perfection.. Pbc needs to do the same if they want to grow the outside from more than just hardcore fans

We haven't heard anything about SPIKE dropping PBC, so it's safe to assume that we should expect more cards on that channel. I didn't realize TR has an agreement with SPIKE, but that doesn't really affect PBC.

I will watch any channel and accept any kind of presentation, so the only thing that matters to me is the matchmaking. Once matchmaking becomes consistently decent, then I'll be satisfied. But in reality, casual fans will not consistently watch PBC with the way things are currently set-up.

Taking a look at their site, their next 3 cards are each on different networks. Spike, NBC and ESPN.

Just explain why better promotion/advertising wouldn't remedy this?

I get why HBO has been able to build a model over 35 years, but its a new day and age. What if PBC is on a network that Comcast or Direct TV doesn't have? They would be eliminating up to 50 million people from even watching at all.

What if ESPN doesn't give PBC any slots during college football season and the NBA, what would happen?

Again, I understand your point and those that agree with you, but you guys are forgetting that FNF had terrible ratings for years doing exactly what you are suggesting. Even the hardcore fans didn't turn in.

What is wrong with trying something different?

Good idea-but what would happen to PBC when college football, baseball and the NBA started and there are no time buys available in prime time?

Nothing wrong with trying something different. Many including myself just dont see how it can work. It's too unorganized and in its current state its hard to gain consistent viewership by network hopping across a plethora of networks.

At least with FNF, those who wanted to tune in were able to do so and knew exactly what channel to tune into on what date what time. It wasnt a guessing game like how PBC currently is. FNF ratings had bad ratings because they were all showcase fights with up and comers that only appealed to true diehards. PBC has some excellent matches to be made but for some reason Haymon refuses to make them and instead gives us his top guys vs no hopers for the most part.

4.)let the fighter walk in with his crew and let them in the ring before and after the fight .

Other than that plus better matchmaking....that would be badass

                      Thank You Godfather Al Haymon
1-they rarely show the ring girls on tv, & I'm viewing most fights via TV, so I don't really care about this as a tv viewer of PBC fights. If I went to a PBC fight this would feel odder & I might give more ****s about it.
2-the ring walks definitely come off odd so yea I'd like to see regular ring entrances.
3-I'm kinda burned out on the Buffer brothers & Lennon in boxing/mma. I'm fine with a illuminati member ring announcer who goes unseen. It definitely can add some personality to the event so if you add that I think you want some persona driven ring announcer, but idk that there is much depth in that business so its basically just the same ole same ole so I can see the upside of them being different for the sake of being different here.
4-agree, boxers are more team oriented than most people realize. Allow that to be shown.
