Comments Thread For: Heavyweight Rise: Parker Destroys Tupou in a Minute

Thrilling 23-year old Heavyweight Joseph Parker (15-0, 13 KO), 237, of South Auckland, New Zealand, took another step towards contention on Saturday at the Stadium Southland in Invercargill, New Zealand. It took Parker just a minute and change to find a one-punch finish of 32-year old Bowie Tupou (25-4, 17 KO), 265 ¾, of Redfern, New South Wales, Australia. It was the third first-round knockout of Parker’s career. All of Tupou’s career losses have come by knockout. [Click Here To Read More]

Wilder/Scott all over again. Several replays made it look like he didn't hit him but there was one that showed him cracking him in the top of the head & he dropped like a ton of bricks. He needed assistance getting up. Tupou was a solid 265 & was done by one big shot to the top of the head. Parker has the goods. He was 236 for this fight. Don't know how Tupou won the WBO Africa title but it's another WBO trinket for Parker. He will now be in the top 5 of the WBO & I'm assuming in the top 10-15 in all other bodies. Tupou was WBO #13 with that Africa title. Parker holds 4 regional belts now. The WBO oriental/Africa titles, The PABA (WBA affiliated)title & OPBF (Whatever that means) title. I think he has 2 more fights this year & i'm assuming it will be against this level of opposition. 2016 he will start making his move.

Didn't realize he was only 23.

The way he puts his punches together is really impressive.

Wilder is is older, but his development isn't keeping up with these other young heavyweights. Wilder will never fight this kid.

I do understand when one has the fight game in the blood and want to extend their boxing career occupation. But, Ex fighters are not always good trainers. But Fenech was right: his fighter went out there and shocked the world...only thing...the Hulk was on the other end of the shock! Got KTFO

Yeah Fenech had the right moto. But, the only thing that shook was the mat and the arena when his fighter's :*******:big azz hit the floor. BOOM

Kevin Barry has done a nice job with Parker. His stable mate & main sparring partner was on the undercard. A former K1 & CW boxer Izu Ugonoh has moved up to HW & will fight on the undercards of Parker's fights. He's had 4 fights at HW. He went 8 rounds with Julius Long but he is just learning the sport. 13-0 so far as a pro...

I'm a Parker fan but that seemed like a dive. Especially since Bowie can take hits. That hit replay didn't seem as devastating, even Bowie before the fight wouldn't look straight at Parker, just looking down. I think Bowie knew he wasn't going to win and wanted to help a fellow Polynesian brother look good or wanted to save himself a brutal beating due to his age. I still think Joseph Parker's the real deal though. And happy he's really active in fighting in the year.

The punch kind of grazed the forehead/top of the head maybe it did some damage but not a sandman type shot.
