Andre Ward's 4 major mistakes

Ward makes a LOT of mistakes, that's why he keeps ducking Gennady and Kovalev. The coward is disgusting.

I'm not a fan of Kovalev, but I don't see how Ward could beat him. Kovalev is like a cruiserweight so Wards smothering and physical rough house tactics that he uses against some opponents wouldn't work, so he'd have to try and out box him from the outside which also plays into Kovalev's favor. I think it's a bad matchup for Ward.

Actually, I think Kovalev was like 183 or 184 at most in his last fight. He was within 10 pounds of his weigh in weight, I remember that much.

But Golovkin and Ward are definitely closer on fight night based off history than Kovalev and Ward.

Kovalev was 183 vs Mohammedi and 189 vs Pascal and 188 vs Hopkins. He fluctuates, but that's the thing about unoffical weights, they're not all that legit. Fighters have clothing on, cell phones, ***lery, ect. Additionally who knows if they just ate or drank or how quickly they stepped on/off the scale. Lots of room for variation on those weights. Golovkin just weighed in at 170lbs again vs Monroe, with his high at 173lbs vs Rubio. You see JMW's like Gausha coming in as heavy as Golovkin.

At the same time Ward has only one recorded fight night weight from 3 years ago and people act like that's it for him and yet he needs to have a fight at 172lbs because they wanted to be careful how he cut the weight! If they're at all concerned with how he cuts weight, then he's likely coming down a pretty decent amount, and this is for a guy who keeps himself in good shape year round. Come on!
Basic statistics should tell folks one sample doesn't represent a population...

He'd been out of the ring for over a year and was 174 two and a half weeks before the Smith fight! So obviously he could have made 168 if neccesary

I don't think Ward makes a lot of mistakes. But neither did Hopkins and Kovalev absolutely dominated him. I was expecting career mistakes, because those he has made. Regardless of how good Ward is, he doesn't pose much of a threat to Kovalev. Kovalev was willing to use his length and beat Hopkins and I think he will do the same to Ward. Sometimes exciting fighters let size and length advantages go to waste in order to make for more exchanges, if Kovalev does not and keeps Ward on the end of his punches I don't see any way he loses. The only problem is, unless Ward gets rocked and taken out, it can be a much more boring fight than what fans are used to and want.
