Kovalev weighed 189 for his last fight if I recall correctly which is 13lbs more than what Ward weighed on the night against Dawson.

Golovkin and Ward are closer in terms of size.
Actually, I think Kovalev was like 183 or 184 at most in his last fight. He was within 10 pounds of his weigh in weight, I remember that much.

But Golovkin and Ward are definitely closer on fight night based off history than Kovalev and Ward.

Maybe I'm thinking of the Pascal fight.

172 is much closer to 175 than 160 is to 168. Ward was over the SMW limit for his last fight, technically making him a LHW.

You were talking about fight night weights though.

So is Ward a LHW or should he come down to 164? Golovkin fans seemed to be confused on that particular issue.

Ward will be at the SMW limit for his next fight, he clearly didn't struggle to make weight for Smith.

JDJ is spot on. Does anyone think Ward is going 12 without taking a solid punch from Kovalev, and does anyone think he could handle it when it comes? Kovalev has enough skill to land, and when he does it will change the fight.

GGG-Ward would be an interesting fight and I hope to see it happen at some point, but GGG would going to have to contend with a significant size disadvantage.

Ward is the same height as Kovalev and weighed in at 172 for his last fight, there is no question his size matches up more with Kovalev.

If this fight happens,I know 2 things.
                    1. If ward lands flush on kovalev, the krusher can walk through it.
                    2. If kovalev lands flush on ward...its lights out.
