Comments Thread For: Jacobs Eager To Finally Fight Quillin, Not Golovkin

Daniel Jacobs reiterated his desire to face Peter Quillin later this year during an open workout Wednesday to promote his middleweight title fight Saturday night against Sergio Mora.

When asked about the long-discussed, all-Brooklyn bout between him and Quillin becoming a reality if he overcomes Mora, Jacobs made it clear that’s the fight he wants next.

“I’ve been hearing that,” Jacobs said. “I’ve been hearing bits and pieces about that. That’s something I’ve been looking forward to for a very long time, my whole career, actually – well, since I’ve returned [from cancer]. It’s something the fans have been asking for, surprisingly. Out of all the top middleweights in the division, they want to see me against Quillin. So hopefully we can make it happen.” [Click Here To Read More]

Are'nt they both moving to 168? I'm pretty sure I saw that Quillin was.

Uhhhhh....the fans want you and Quillin to fight Golovkin. But you want to keep it all in house and try to pretend like Golovkin isn't around? PBC isolating themselves from the rest of boxing is bad for boxing....on what planet does anyone who dares to be great acknowledge Quillin over Golovkin???

So glad Haymon has been building this mega fight up, Quillin vs Jacobs is going to be one of the biggest undercard fights in the month.

I think he's just being realistic knowing the politics surrounding a Golovkin fight. Hopefully he makes weight for Mora alot easier than he did for Fletcher, I still like to see this guy become an established top MW. I think if PBC loses some of its funding next year we might get to see fighters like Danny fight Golovkin.

Dude is a cancer survivor that is walking around with a trinket that if you called it a paper title, I'd be an insult to all paper champions. Exactly WTF does a fight with him do for GGG?

Jacobs is a ducking scared coward fraud now I guess.

The Haymon excuse only works when it's Lara

I don't know why all these fighters can't say just "This fight won't happen because of boxing politics" and period. It's really not their fault but if they just keep telling these "not now" "I focus to X right now" they just put themselves on harm's way and they will be seem like they are bullshitting. And if we watch it strictly they really do because it would be way more simple if they would just say "It's boxing politics". I don't think that that would be some kind of disrespect to Haymon either, I don't ask them to say "These *******s can't work together so I won't fight GGG".

Do people remember when Roc Nation outbid Haymon last year and Haymon got so b*tt hurt upset about it that he forced Quillen to vacate his belt rather then take the fight turning down a career payday. The spin the Haymon suckups had was he just doing this because he is going to make the Quillen vs Jacobs. A year later and it's a joke that neither guy has fought each other or GGG. Jacobs has been fighting nobodies since he got KO'd by Pirog 5 years ago. Not the best fighters at 160 and not even the best fighters Haymon has at 160. But that is the PBC way. Jacobs has a paper belt that he never earned in the first place.
