  • Have any of you every disrespected a fighter in person?

So, I was recently in Vegas and got a chance to see Mayweather train like 5 ft. in front from me at his gym, crazy; and then I saw Marco Huck at a Magic Shop inside Planet Hollywood resort, talked to him for a bit, was drunk as ****, but he was cool.

Anyway, just saw that article on Ortiz, and am assuming someone disrespected him regarding his boxing career.

So, my question have any of you guys ever trash talked a pro fighter, face to face? And I mean a top dude, not necessarily any pro fighter.

Only documented one I can think of is when this dude is trying to get Oscar's signature, but then he's like "Marquez is gonna win, he's not gonna quit like De La Hoya," pretty brutal.

James Toney and I used to get in to it at the gym fairly often it seemed. He's the only one that I ever had words with. Long story there, I've told it before but nobody believes me. Whateva...........

One time I was sitting ringside for Rahman-barrett in 2005.. It was a don King card so alotmof his fighters were sitting ringside including lamon brewster and chris byrd, both paper champs at the time.. Brewster was cool as hell and when we asked when he was going to fight klitchko, brewster just smiled laughed and did the johnny manziel money gesture with his hand.. Shortly afterwards chris byrd walked right past us, and being boxing fans we were all excited and yelling "chris Byrd, chris BYRD, CHRIS BYRD" and dude gave us the cold shoulder and literally walked right past us,,, I had to keep it real and shout "that's why you ain't got no fans chris Byrd". This did get his attention and he turned back smiled and gave us a thumbs up,seemingly feeling like an idiot for being a prick to us.. True story

Who is to blame? The dolt who talked trash to a man who made his living hurting people, or the savage who couldn't control himself around the dolt? I don't know.

Whatever the case may be, I think people seriously underestimate boxers. This is why they suggest Mayweather would lose to a woman, or proclaim they could be "x" boxer in a bar fight. Absurd, of course, but people still believe it.

That's a cool story, man. Pretty weird seeing world level fighters, up close. Takes balls to say what you said. I wouldn't do that **** myself.

Chris Byrd is one of the nicest and most decent fighters that you could ever come acrossed, his whole families like that. He may have just been preoccupied. Good people, the Byrds.

I didn't really talk ****. He threw **** at me, I threw it back and we started blabbering back and forth. It happened a few times up at Galaxy. Jackie could tell you why we didn't get along like we did in the amateurs after he won his title. If I tell you why than you would tell me that I'm full of ****, or at least that's what happened last time that I talked about it.

Yeah, I never I thought he was a bad guy.. I think at the time due to his ring style he was one of the more critized fighters by fans, and probably thought we were hecklers, but in reality we were actually big fans of his.. Me and my cousin loved it when he fought the huge guys like Golata, mccline and would open up some 6-7 punch combos after he tired them
