But hey, Stevenson manages not to make quality fights somehow even when networks don't get in the way.
Fighting on HBO isn't the best money available to Stevenson; Stevenson getting paid double what HBO was offering for Stevenson-Fonfara and even Kovalev's own purse going down $2.5m without Canadian PPV shows that point pretty blatantly (ignoring the fact that Stevenson was still able to draw 1.8m viewers for a AFTERNOON fight card, or that Showtime is available in ~20% fewer homes, since neither truth helps your point).

If HBO was truly the place with the best money, they wouldn't be so chicken**** about opening things up to purse bid.

If they value him so much, how come he's on Spike TV next? TBH I don't blame them, his Showtime numbers were just pathetic.

Yvon Michel, promoter of WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, sat down with BoxingScene.com to discuss the recent events involving his star fighter and the breakdown of negotiations with HBO for a fall unification with WBO champion Sergey Kovalev. For much of 2013, HBO was showcasing both Stevenson and Kovalev - with the idea of matching them in a high profile fight at some point this year. At the end of January, the discussions between Michel, HBO and Kovalev's promoter Main Events intensified. Both boxers were going to take interim-fights and then face each other on a date in the fall.

Showtime/CBS is playing their part in the PBC universe; Stevenson vs Fonfara, vs Sukhotsky, and vs Bika were all carried by Showtime/CBS.

Stevenson-Karpency being on Sp1keTV doesn't preclude the next Stevenson fight from being on Showtime/CBS; Andre Berto is on the verge of parlaying his own Sp1keTV performance into a Showtime PPV fight with Floyd Mayweather.

No clue wtf you are talking about as per usual. I give zero ****s about either of these guys (I'm hoping Beterbiev will be KTFO of both of them in the near future) & anxiously await the day we can quit talking about this fight cuz I got no horse in this race, but pay these mfers what they are worth & lets make a top 2 in a division fight ffs. HBO isn't willing to do that. HBO is the biggest problem in making this fight.

He last fought on CBS daytime, and next fighting on Spike. That's some exclusive Showtime contract. Why are you posting lies if you don't give a **** about these guys?

Neither link mentions anything about SHO offering 2x as much as HBO for Stevenson Fonfara. Par for the course, you and your "facts"

Can't stop with the lies, can you? Once again dropping that Fonfara chestnut. And then conflating his CBS numbers with Showtimes. Bud, his Showtime numbers have been horrible. Fonfara was like a 50% drop from Bellew, and Sukhotsky was distaster.

To here you tell it, HBO could offer $1m for the fight, and Main Events would have to accept the bid and talk up making the rest of the money elsewhere, lol.

With HBO deemed as the only worthy bidder, what is stopping them from lowballing everyone?
Pascal and Kovalev split 6m on HBO, and Pascal wasn't a champ much less lineal. Don't worry, Stevenson would get a career high purse on HBO.

HBO doesn't want to pay fair market value.

Here's the deal: they know they can get a decent rating with Kova fighting this nobody or that one and paying out peanuts relative to what it costs to make the bigger fights -- like a unification.

Duva and Kova got screwed by HBO if they didn't insist on a contract that obligated HBO to back bids for the biggest fights and allow them to fight elsewhere if HBO passed on paying what it takes to win those bids.

LOL at Haymon's "unlimited funds" -- HBO is owned by Time-Warner ... a few extra million doesn't even get noticed on their bottom line. They just don't want to spend it or risk losing ... sort of like "ducking" only it's HBO ducking PBC.

Let the market set the price and let the fighters fight for the full value. You talk about Stevenson bypassing a big payday, but Kova is getting screwed too if HBO won't pay what the fight is worth or let him fight elsewhere for what he's worth.
Of course not, but see what they have to offer. The money will be excellent, I'm sure far better than anything Stevenson has seen since leaving HBO (and his credibility behind). Not just the HBO money, Stevenson's streak of poor ratings, attendance and Canadian PPV proceeds would be broken in a major way. Like I said, Pascal split 6m with Kov and didnt even bring a belt.

Stevenson is irrelevant already, he might have the belt but everyone knows that Kovalev is the man at 175. Stevenson is a very simpleminded and insecure ex-pimp that will be lost once his boxing career is over and Daddy Haymon doesnt send him money anymore. His next fight will have no viewers again and they will lose more money, in their minds its probably still better than getting knocked the f out by the Krusher.

Thank you Al Haymon and thank you Adonis. Time to retire.
