I kind of feel the same way but I do not think Kovalev will still be a LHW in 2 years. He has more and more difficulty making weight with every fight and soon will have to move up out of necessity.

Maybe Beterbiev should fight Ward as a guy with only 9 fights under his belt could only be considered a tune up for Ward.

Don't forget about Edwin Rodríguez, I would like to see Stevenson take him on next.

Pascal is the joke of the division. He is very competitive but he has lost to all the good fighters in the division.

I can see why anyone would want that

Beterbiev's inside game is brutal RIP Ward if that fight happens

Spence hasn't shown the dominance vs high caliber opposition that Beterbiev has. 147 is a deep division too. You need to climb up more & Spence hasn't. 175 is softer & Beterbiev has beaten good fighters & ex-champs already. Beterbiev is arguably top 3 & clearly a top ten guy. Any champion in any division should be able to fight an independently ranked top ten caliber guy & no one should ever complain.

And I don't for the life of me see the risk/reward thing you're talking about. Kov is fighting bs guys right now. Beterbiev is 2 or 3 levels above that bum Kov fought last weekend. How Kov isn't getting more respect from a Beterbiev W is beyond me & if he loses Beterbiev is the Loma of 175. No shame in losing to the Loma of 175 is there? If Beterbiev wins he's THE MAN at 175 & has 3 of the "world" belts. If he loses its a great learning experience & something that'll help him know where he's lacking.

don't forget mekhontsev, barrera, gvozdyk, and, perhaps the best of them all, bivol. i also notice a few more american and russian prospects' names in the boxrec light heavy rankings but i haven't had the opportunity to watch them yet. 175 lbs is a real hotbed of talent right now

twosweethooks, I know that you are aware of the 164lb catchweight demand on Andre Ward..... I also know that you are aware who would win that fight.

Why would Beterbiev even consider that fight right now ?

Duva is pretty much backed into a corner again now. Now she really has to come through with this fight. Otherwise it'll make her look bad and ultimately will make Sergey look bad like they're only throwing names out there but not following up on them.

If there is no Haymon interference, and if she's cooperative herself, this should be an easy fight to make.

Someone is getting knocked out and it might even be Kovalev. This fight whets the appetite even more than GGG-lemieux.
                      HOLD ON !

                      1) Lomachenko is a much better fighter than Beterbiev

                      2) Lomachenko clearly wasn't ready, as proven by the fact that he lost to Salido

This is the pro game, nothing that came before is relevant..... the learning/developing curve that you may hear insiders refer to, is very steep indeed.

I think he definitely needs more time. but his team should know.
