    3) athletes - all human beings actually, but athletes especially - are a product of their environment..... that environment, is determined by the strength of your infrastructure..... for example, we have produced the very best rugby team in the world ever since William Webb Ellis picked up the ball and ran with it, despite only having a tiny population, because of the strength of our infrastructure.

We have the best domestic competition in the world, bar none..... our domestic competition produces world-class players at a very high level..... whereas the standard of boxing in New Zealand is not that great at all, limited to mostly low-mid level club stuff, the level of professional competition just isn't there..... and as a result of that, the money aint there either.

Any domestic-level rugby player, will make more money than a boxer.

International players obviously make a lot more than that.

Parker was likely having too much fun punching his brothers to play rugby
I get all of that, the statement was more as to why hasnt anyone tried to build a good boxing program there yet.

There place is ripe for it.

No surprise, Polynesians (Samoans, Tongans, Native Hawaiins, Maoris, etc) are naturally strong and are big. They excel in sports if given the opportunity with proper training and coaching. But the only problem is there's such a minimal population of them. Honestly, if there were the same population of Polynesians as Blacks or Whites, we'd see more Polynesians dominating sports in general.

            Yep ^^

            When Jonah Lomu was 18yo.....

He was 6'4", 118kg, and he could run the 100m in 11 secs

Unbelievably, balance and the ability to step at speed, were his best features.

            He was a phenom.

good gracious that would be a fight!

lucas browne or kali meehan also would be decent tests for parker

I think Parker is the best young HW prospect out there. He's got power, fast hands, good combination puncher and a ferocious killer instinct. He's gonna be a major player in the division in years to come and it's quite possible that he'll eventually face Klitschko
