I've always had a hard time swallowing Kov would actually fight this guy anytime soon because in the past when they've mentioned him he'd say things like "he needs more fights" , which most people see as a duck . At least that's what most people saw it as when Stevenson said it about Kov . They got Haymon pegged so wrong in this scenario as my guest is that Haymon has NO problem allowing Beterbiev to go snatch Kov's 3 straps , even if has to let him go to HBO to fight !

I agree. The upside here far outweighs the downside if you think about this situation from either side tbqh. Duva doesn't wanna get into another purse bid situation with Haymon that she likely can't win. Beterbiev is likely gonna be one of Kov's next mandatories. So head the purse bid situation off at the pass & offer the fight to him first on your terms & not have to worry about dropping a title at a future date. And Haymon gots a guy who's NOT fighting as the main event yet being offered a fight on HBO in his 10th(?) fight vs one of the biggest names in the sport for his 3 belts & a chance for Haymon to have that division locked up. **** thats win win even if Beterbiev loses pretty much. I think people thinking this fight won't happen are thinking Haymon is too attached to all his guys fighting on PBC all the time.

The only thing I could see be a hinderance here is if Duva &/or HBO require options on Beterbiev's future fights & even then I could see Haymon being okay with it, but maybe not idk.

Well, since she is making the move to offer the fight, if it doesn't happen, you know which direction to point the finger.

I can't see this fight happening so soon. Let Beterbiev spank some of the other LHWs on the Haymon side of the fence, and then maybe in couple years we'll see Kov/Beterbiev (after Beter beats Adonis).

I don't think catching a L in your 10th fight to one of the guys being talked about as P4P "loses him as a future cash cow". If a guy is fun to watch he's fun to watch. Pacquiao was KOing fools with 3 losses or w/e when he became a cash cow. If you got a fun fighting style I don't think a nice clean 0 in the L column means as much. Look at Lemieux right now too. He's knocking guys out & got his first notable W over a good opponent finally & has parlayed that into a PPV nearly everyone here is excited about.

Also I imagine Beterbiev will have some input on this & I suspect telling him "no you don't want this fight right now" isn't gonna work so well. This is one of those situations I imagine could damage a promoter/fighter relationship if a promoter doesn't make the thing a fighter wants to happen happen.

Duva and Kovalev are showing the dead cat to Haymon!... This wasn't about Beterbiev, in the first place... This is about the "purse bid" for the pimp fight! You just read between the lines...

Try to use your head before you write.
if kovalev has said beterbiev needs more fights in the past, its legit, a guy that has 5 or 6 pro fights usally needs more fights.
but when stevenson says kovalev that had 20 fights and already was a world champion needs more fights, when they fight on the same card and its a unification fight that everybody wants to see. That is a duck.
