I mean I agree, obviously it would of been better for Kovalev to have fought a better fighter tonight, and every time out. But its one harmless mandatory defense, if he fights someone like Gonzalez/Beterbiev/Stevenson next, then it really isn't too much of an issue, especially considering he was one of those fighters who NEEDED belts to be able to get fights, not long ago

That level of hyperbole does not convey your point very well

        ward is ducking kovalev

ward needs to fight kovalev next.his last fight was 172 so he is a light heavyweight theres no reason that fight shouldn't be next.I have a feeling ward doesn't want it with kovalev.

Not probably, surely. Still regardless of you opinion of Ward he would be moving up one division, he can't even knock out guys at 168, so it would be understanding.

Easy, Kovalev will use Ward as toilet papaer. Ggg should drop his trainer now, this clown just proved he's a garbage trainer from his work with Mohamadi

beterbiev and stevenson will never fight kovalev.the ward fight is a much better and makeable fight that should be next.if not then a pascal rematch or gonzalez fight.

Personally, I'd like to see Kovalev move up. The only relevant light heavy fight is Stevenson, who doesn't wanna fight him. He could wait for Ward. But, GGG is a bigger name than Kovalev. So, Ward's probably gonna try and wait on that. I'd like to see Kovalev challenge Wilder. But I guess Haymon makes that tough. Kovalev's done all he can do at light heavy. The cruiserweight division isn't real popular over here. But there's a couple Russian beltholdets there. Plus, most of the tpp guys there would love to get on the HBO platform. Chasing titles in multiple divisions always creates interest and excitement. Something I think Kovalev should consider before his career hits a stalemate waiting on things to happen. Sometimes you gotta make things happen.

I agree, Kovalev-Ward is one of the biggest, if not the biggest fight in boxing at the moment (at least in terms of skills and importance). But it's probably not happening next.

It HAS to happen next year, though.
