HBO was wise to avoid the Ward vs Smith bout. Smith was not at all fit for the fight, and whatever his excuse, he failed to properly prepare and as a result he wasted everybody's time (including that of Andre Ward).

Kovalev doesnt have any choice, since there is no one who can compete with him. Stivenson is on PBC with Beterbiev. Only Ward left but he doesnt seem to rush to face Kov though he cleaned his division almost 4 years ago
