So he'll be weight drained, in other words? Yeah, it's a good possibility.

Golovkin is pretty much an oversized prototype of everything that Cotto hates. If he's healthy, he wrecks Cotto within 5.Comment

He's been shaky against guys who can walk him down for a long time. It's not just Margarito. Whereas Cotto can handle that against lesser fighters his size, obviously Golovkin isn't his size and isn't a lesser fighter.Comment

I don't think it will be a good idea on GGG part to allow himself to be so drained. What is the point? He wants the MW belt and Cotto will not be allowed to demand any CW if it is for the title. Maybe GGG is comfortable to allow 158-159, because he was weighting around this anyway. But don't go to 155, it may have lasting effects. If Cotto does not want it at 160, let him vacate. Due to his crowd-pleasing style GGG will be paid nicely even if he fights Monroe-type opponents. After Lemeiux (if successful) his stock will rise even more. He will be unified champion. Do not allow to be bullied in negotiations. Cotto really does not do much resume-wise as well. At least for the hardcore fans. He is just a name at this point in time.
Before everybody starts getting blue in the face about 164 against Ward and hypocrisy, I'll tell that I felt uncomfortable with that offer as well. GGG (or his people) should've just say that at the moment they don't want to go up in weight, because there is unfinished business at 160. Draining Ward is not an honorary thing to do. The same as Cotto trying to drain GGG. But the latter is worse, because Cotto tries to keep his MW belt using catchweight.Comment
