Yes it was. The top section was blocked off. It was packed not considering how many seats MSG holds, but how many people showed up out of available tickets.

Top section was cut off and they had 9000 tickets for sale I think, I only saw one section there that wasn't completely packed.


There were a LOT of people there for GGG and a very, very small percentage of them were Eastern European. That was Golovkin's first fight at the big Garden and against an unknown Aussie and he had 8000 or so people there for him. The crowd was great.

Golovkin had 8,572 in attendance vs Geale (over 7,800 tix sold) and Lemieux had 6,532 vs Rosado 15 minutes down the street at Barclays. I'll go out on a limb and say this fight gets over 14,000 sold and does over 300k buys.

Cotto is a bigger draw in America, not sure who's dis*****g that.

In not so many words, he's making a first step in making a Golovkin - Ward superfight.

I hope it does well but I'm just not confident it will considering all the relevant factors. A Kazakh vs a French Canadian on US PPV sandwiched between Mayweather, Cotto and Canelo.

so it's even worse: they were "all established world superstars with audiences and audiences that buy ppvs" and yet they all went with fights that didn't deserve to be on ppv.

I'm not sure what u are failing to understand. Talking about fights that were on ppv but didn't belong on ppv doesn't then mean this fight belongs on ppv. All I did was explain why those fights abd those fighters get away with it. Golovkin isn't that. And this fight STILL doesn't belong on ppv. If u say it does because of what u highlighted what's to stop every other champion from trying to put their unification on ppv. Stop defending this **** man. That's the one aspect of this fight that is pretty much indefensible.

it won't be ppv here in the uk so i don't care, but if i was american i'd expect at least one other top level fight on the card to justify its price

i'm anticipating 200k-250k buys

If chocolatito's in it, I think it'll get more than 250.
