Haymon not having built a star from scratch might not be his fault

It's actually Broner's fault if you think about it.

If Broner had beaten Maidana and Porter, and disposed of Paulie, he would have been a star by now.

Remember that originally Broner vs Maidana was supposed to be on PPV, but was since scrapped since they couldn't get the fully stacked undercard they wanted.

If Broner had dismantled and eventually knocked out Maidana with a body shot or TKO'd him in general like he was supposed to (according to the odds) then he would have been on a major streak. Yes, it would have helped if he had looked more impressive against Paulie too. Then add on to the fact that if he had beaten Porter (again, as he was supposed to) he would, without a doubt, be a star by now.

Basically what I'm saying is it's the fact that Broner sucks rather than Haymon sucks at building stars.

Well, that didn't happen so this is a pointless argument. Also, I'm interested in seeing since when has Haymon been working with Floyd.

Anyways, Al will probably get his "built from scratch superstar" if Spence lives up to the hype.

Not really buying the hype with Spence, but if he becomes a star on PBC then absolutely he would have been built by Haymon.

The fact is stars don't come around that often.
He's got a chance with Thurman,Spence, and Maybe Wilder...
But I don't see any once in a generation type fighters like Floyd, Manny, Roy etc...
Those guys are far and few between..

          Exactly.

People keep acting like boxers don't play into star making. If you suck in one of several categories as a boxer you aren't gonna be a star. You can be feed better & better guys to your fighter all day & he can beat them, but he'll never be a real star without the level of talent, skills & drive needed to be a star. You'll just be a hype job.

TR, HBO & GBP have built more stars than PBC cuz they've been in the business of building stars for far longer. They've also built more hype jobs while attempting to fool the public into thinking eventually certain guys would be stars.

I'd throw Beterbiev on that list ahead of Wilder. Wilder is KOing a lot of joke guys. Beterbiev is KOing former champions.

Does Wilder quality as "from scratch"?

Didn't he sign with Shelly Finkel and Golden Boy out of the Olympics?

Thought he only signed with Haymon like a couple years ago, well into his pro career.

That's because Hymen looks for the wrong traits in boxers. He likes guys tht run their mouth and self promote. They over value themselves then get soft when the money comes in.
