There is no logic in your post. With your reason you could replace malignaggi with any fighter and state that its a win-win situation.
Rematch with Salka:
If Garcia KO's Salka then mostly his fans will say hes a beast at 147 and that he is one of the best.
If Salka survives and garcia wins a decision, then they will say it was a good fight and garcia outboxed a rejuvenated salka who improved vastly after his first loss. (see his dominant wins against Clay and Ecchevaria)
Steve Forbes:
If Garcia KO's Forbes then mostly his fans will say hes a beast at 147 and that he is one of the best.
If Forbes survives and garcia wins a decision, then they will say it was a good fight and garcia outboxed a more experienced forbes better than oscar de la hoya ever did, so garcia > de la hoya
Rather it should be like this:
If Garcia KO's Malignaggi then... whatever malignaggi is featherfisted, over the hill and had a year layoff.
If Malignaggi survives and garca wins a close decision, Garcia is overrated and doesnt have what it takes to seperate himself from the rest
