Kovalev vs Ward

Kovalev is the bigger guy, obviously. Stronger, one of the hardest P4P punchers in the sport, and arguably just as smart as Ward. Dirty tactics won't work on Kovalev, it'd be lights out for Ward if he tried.

Ward is also known for being feather fisted in his own division, if you don't have the power to keep Kovalev OFF you, you're in loads of trouble. I don't think Ward will hurt Kovalev at all.

I imagine Kovalev finishing the fight with one nasty liver shot.. or knocking Ward out in the later rounds. Ward is fast and amazing, but he can't go 12 rounds dodging Kovalev. We all know he has a suspect chin too (Darnell Boone) Kovalev hits harder than this dude and faster.

I'm pretty sure that Ward would win. Kovalev has his flaws Ward...not really. He is one of those few fighters whom I don't know what's their obvious mistake. Other one is Mayweather but probably that's all right now.
Kovalev isn't dumb but neither as smart as Ward. He will only have advantage in power and size nothing else and those won't be enough against a fighter like Ward.

I can agree with that. Kovalev is not just one big power puncher. He can go in and land his punches, then out in split seconds. He's cautious. But Ward's speed could translate additional power in the higher division. Speed kills. There's no doubt Ward would be able to sneak in punches Kovalev won't see coming. If he can't KO Kovalev early, then he needs to keep throwing just to keep his opponent at bay. Otherwise, he's doomed.

I still think this is a competitive fight.

Kovalev by KO. Ward will get pushed like a rag doll because for the first time he will be fighting a skilled bigger man that knows how to set his power punches.

1-Ward has never been feather fisted

2-There is more to boxing then power..

Everyone knows from now that he isn't a dumb brawler but don't overreach. Ward has just as obvious advantage in IQ as Kovalev has in power.

Feather fisted? You are too early to call everyone feather fisted who isn't a KO monster. Ward has kept off every of his opponents so far and maybe he isn't the biggest puncher but neither he is some 168 pound version of Malignaggi or Algieri. He kept off and bullied one of the most iron chinned fighter out there, Carl Froch. If he could keep that guy off I don't see why Kovalev would just walk through him.

Ward is smarter than he would just run all the time. He takes the fight on the inside if it's needed and etc... He never just "ran", best defensive fighters never just "run" and dodge. They take away their opponents best weapons and turn against them.

And I think his chin isn't suspect. That Boone fight was 10 damn years ago, since then he fought many tougher opponents and also bigger punchers and he was never knocked down and he wasn't even seriously stunned. So I don't think that based on a 10 years old fight we should call his chin suspect.
