Cotto is in his fourth weight class and weighed in at 153 for a MW title fight. By any measure, he's tiny for both 154 and 160. Fighting for a catchweight is acceptable, especially since he's just about washed up...and to use Team GGG's own words, Canelo and Cotto are the A-sides against GGG, so...what's the difference?

GGG is hiding - he makes clear statements that anybody can be fought between 154-168, but then says Lara hasn't done anything and Ward is B-side therefore needs to come to 164.

Bottom line is - Chavez and Froch were considered easy marks for Team GGG so they didn't care about the weight, but Ward is not so they want a CW to weaken him.

The other bottom line is this...say what you want about Cotto, but he weighed in under the Jr MW limit and disposed of Geale, who is on GGG's ledger as his most accomplished foe in the same amount of time.

Geale is a top 15-20 win for Cotto, and is the best win GGG has to date.

GGG needs to fall back and reign in his coach to stop crapping on his credibility
Team Golovkin have stated Cotto is too small for MW and that if he dropped the MW title they would stop seeking a fight with him.

At the same time Golovkin has looked to use catch weights in the past. He offered to fight Rosado at 158lbs and offered to fight Edwin Rodriguez & Thomas Oosthuizen at 166lbs. Rodriguez had weighed 166lbs in his previous two fights at that time and Oosthuizen was one year removed from fighting at 160lbs, so he wasn't so much looking to drain them as maintain a more even competitive playing field.

Golovkin and his team received more than their fair share of heat in recent days, after placing a catch-weight demand on a potential fight with Ward. The reason for the heat, is because Golovkin was willing to fight both Carl Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at the full super middleweight limit.

This article is just plain upfront truth. GGG is the A side and if Ward can't come down 4 pounds then Ward can go fly a kite. Ward couldn't even fill his own home town arena in the last fight against 'Tomato Can Smith.' And Smith buckled Ward's knees in the sixth round. Ward is too big for his own britches and needs to suck it up.

      • To all the GGG fans!!!!!
Name one fighter who is better than Lara that is willing to fight GGG at 160 today?

GGG wants no part of Andre Ward and we all know that:
He said that Ward told HBO that he was not ready for the fight.
He team now wants to come down to 164 to fight him.

GGG wants to fight Mayweather, Cotto or Canelo, all smaller fighters with lots of money to gain but too much risk for him.

        • Ward doesn't want to see Kovalev, doesn't want to move up or down. Keep fighting bums on BET.

ok then.. explain why triple bum's groupies went crazy when Jeff Mayweather said if he wants floyd he should drop to 147 ??

ggg brings nothing to floyd, and resume wise hes a first class bum , so drop to 147 or kick rocks
              Exactly !

If Golovkin wants to fight Miguel Cotto..... then he will be doing a lot of extra roadwork, eating a lot of lettuce, and spending a lot of time in the sauna.....

Apparently Golovkin supports catchweights if requested by the A-side, so hard luck for him.

Then dont cry when Cotto demands 156 for Bumkin.

Bumkin will drop to 156, when the A-side legend Cotto tells him to.

Of course..... Bumkin will refuse, cry a river, and then call Rod Salka.

                You will clap and cheer

                  • I don't want to hear CRAP from GGG and his fans about Canelo enforcing a catchweight after all the BS they said about we the A side so it's a catchweight or nothing to Ward. Telling Ward you said you could go to 160 for Floyd so why not 164.

Yet now when Canelo tells GGG I'm the A side, you said you could go to 154 for Floyd and Manny why can't you go to 155 for Canelo. The irony and how this is coming back to bite GGG is hilarious to me.
