Manny fighting Cotto at 145 was his 7th division, and yes it was received with very little backlash due to the fact that Manny had moved up so much already. The story of that fight isnt the weight, its the ass-whupping.

It was my personal opinion that Cotto should have held firm on the weight but I didnt give Manny hell for requesting it.

Look I gotta tell you, comparing GGG to ATGs like Floyd and Manny will just make GGG look worse and worse. You should re-think your strategy.

Not to mention Pac had just fought Hatton and weighed 138... he was moving up a division to fight Cotto regardless of the De La Hoya fight where he weighed 142.. Cotto had just weighed 146 vs Clottey..

Ward has two guys he can fight and he can't make the fight with either... I mean Ward is too big for 164 but too small for 175?

Floyd fought Canelo at 152 and Rigo wants a catch weight and rehydration clause for Loma...

Floyd was willing to fight De La Hoya at 54' and Cotto at 54..also Trinidad at 160..

Triple G said he'd fight at 164...If Ward can't make 164..then Ward can fight Kovalev at 175 because he just made 172..simple as that...

This type of talk is reserved for guys who have already been Lineal World Champions and are just now looking to put great fighters/names into their resume. GGG is still waiting for his shot at the Real Middleweight title [I](history will not recognize him as a Middleweight champion just for picking up a Interim WBC belt, and a paper WBA Belt)

You are giving yourself the run-around. You asked a question, got your answer and you cant argue against it.

Pac didnt receive heavy backlash for his catchweight against Cotto. Mainly due to him going up in weight so much and so fast.

Fans accept petty demands from guys who have put in their work and earned it.

GGG can't get the MW fight he wants. He is 34 yrs old. WHy would he keep waiting for a fight he likely isn't going to get?

Since he can't, people are suggesting he fight ward, then ward will fight Kov if he wins.

Ward got all the fights @168 he wanted, that's why he can wait. GGG likely would have to wait more given either Canelo/lemuix or Cotto/Floyd are real possibilities.

You also are being disingenuous because GGG was willing to forgo the lineal MW title to fight Froch or Chavez @ 168, so for you to act like he never considered abandoning this dream is complete BS>

You're drinking that Kovalev kool-aid I see. You must not realize Kovalev's resume is almost as pathetic as GGG's. A 50 year old Bernard Hopkins is what gives Kov the slight edge. LOL!

Kovalev has nothing for Ward. He's stiff as hell, loses focus often, can be predictable on offense and gets sloppy when you punch with him.

Jean Pascal is a physically tough fighter. No doubt. What Pascal isn't is a smart fighter. I don't think I've seen too many world class level fighters actually fight as dumb as Pascal.

His hands are always down by his waist, defense mediocre and throws noting but hay makers. Sergey might have stopped him, but Pascal made it interesting.

Andre Ward has HIGH boxing acumen and above average boxing skills. Unlike Sergey, he doesn't lose FOCUS.

Ward would give Kovalev that WORK and make him look very ORDINARY on fight night. Kov and GGG should call Carl Froch and have him explain what it's like to get that WORK from SOG.

I love both fighters but GGG was willing to face Froch at 168 as recent as last month. Plus he's been on record (video) saying he'd fight anyone from 154-168. Not sure why his team isn't confident in their wrecking machine any more.
