  • PBCs Biggest Problem is Not Ratings or Finances.....

It's their roster. There is not a single PBC fighter on any of the major pound for pound lists. A PBC only pound for pound list would look like this:

    1. Danny Garcia
    2. Erislandy Lara
    3. Adonis Stevenson
    4. Keith Thurman
    5. Shawn Porter
    6. James DeGale
    7. Carl Frampton
    8. Amir Khan
    9. Gary Russell Jr.
    10. Abner Mares

Or something to that effect. They are all good fighters but can any of them be the face of the franchise? They all seem to be lacking that "it" factor. Pro sports leagues are star driven and this looks like Haymon's biggest barrier.

I saw a interview with a fighter that was with haymon (i think) and he broke it down, said something like out of the 200 fighters haymon has theirs no real elite fights or real names and once you get them to fight each other that last 1 year then what next he said.

You can't be the face of anything fighting twice a year against opposition the casuals have never heard of and to begin with casuals have never heard of you.

Haymon doesn't know to build stars.

All them fighters but he hasn't made one a star. Top rank made Floyd. Haymon been trying to build up dudes like Berto, Thurman, Garcia, Broner forever.

That's why Haymon is constantly stealing other peoples fighters, he doesn't know how to build stars. He doesn't understand the work that goes into doing that.

Chavez was a rating star for HBO, Haymon got his hands on him and destroyed everything top rank build in one fight.

All true. It comes down to inept matchmaking. The closest the Haymon side ever came to building stars was in that good 2013 when Schaeffer was there and you had someone like Danny Garcia beating Matthysse. Of course they squandered all that momentum, but the matchups that year were going a long way towards building new stars. That's the only way to do it, by having guys overcome adversity and tough challenges. Floyd came up the hard way - just look at his resume. Can't say the same for these new Haymon guys.

Yeah but it starts with locating that special talent. You can matchmake and promote all you want but if the fighter doesn't have "it" there is not much you can do. All the guys you listed are good fighters but not special talents.

Abner mares and Santa Cruz were also on there way to being stars.

What does Haymon do? Have them fight nobodies, until no one cares about them anymore.

I keep telling people, Haymon has one main goal, make as many fights as possible so he can get his 15% over and over. PBC is the perfect example of that, nothing but garbage spread out on as many channels as possible.

                Did Chavez Jr. Have "it"?

Nope, top rank built that bum to a star. They did whatever it took to do, lost money on a lot of events just to keep him busy, covered up his bs, matched him up in fights he could look good in.

Top rank did that, Haymon ruined it, he wasn't willing to do what it takes, because he only cares about his 15%.

His shelf life was short. At TR he was able to squeeze down to 160, rehydrate to cruiser and just overwhelm people. Once he outgrew the weight class he was useless. Arum knew this. That's why he took that buyout and didn't litigate it.

I give Arum credit for getting his cash early and dumping him though. Although I do agree that the Fonfara fight was terrible matchmaking but he struggles with any LHW or SMW regardless.

PBC seems to be going for the American stars. How many Americans are on the current P4P list?

Other than Mayweather, Crawford is the only other American in the top ten.
If going by America alone, PBC has most of them when looking at the top ten in each division.
