It's amusing because it's the same reason ggg fanatics want Floyd to fight him. The detractors have the same sickness.

Yea, that's absurd. Ggg beating Ward legitimizes him in everyone's eyes and puts him in a legit atg mw discussion. Hell even losing in a great fight gives him credibility.
Losing hurts him financially. But I mean, **** you can't defend that thought process then turn around and complain why crap fights are on every week.

These fights suck because everybody fears losing.

    • Ward isn't worth moving up for. Ward on BET scored 325 thousand viewers with a 0.09 demographic rating to finish in 71st place the day's cable ratings list.

Never agree with ya but, I'm with you on that. Something has happened over the last ten years, and I'm not blaming anyone for it, that has made guys terrified of losing. When in reality as long as you have a good showing people will still love you and you'll still get paid well. If ggg lost to ward but gave him hell in the process his stock wouldn't drop. He'd gain more fans, guys like you, because he stepped up and proved how good he is despite losing.

          • First of all there is no offer on the table from Ward, only this vague interview where he just rants a bit and says he is ready and HBO is talking / planning.

Ward himself said HBO wants to buildup this fight. It doesnt make sense when

1.) ward has been inacitve for almost 2 years and only fought once

2.) Ward only fight in the last couple years was on BET on a irrelevant networks with 300k viewers and free tickets.

3.) GGG wants to unify belts at MW and can probably fight Lemieux soon which is a top fight and will be able to face the Canelo / Cotto winner.

4.) Froch would have been an exception because it would have been a huge fight in england and a PPV fight which would have made GGG much much more money than Ward.

5.) Ward is not ******, he knows whats going on with HBO and the fight, and he knows that GGG is the money fight for him and he also knows that GGG has a great chance to land that Canelo fight early next year and that he is in talks with De la Hoya to fight Lemieux next.

Ward uses the GGG brand to draw attention, its a smart move i have to admit, but theres no way a serious offer on any table. Its just talks and promoting his own fights who not many care about, but if he keeps talking about GGG and how GGG is avoiding him, of course people will wanna watch his fights and see what its all about.

Ward is clever, but GGG ain't ****** either.

So he said if you really wanna fight now, lets make 50/50 across the board, money and weight. (and by the way, its not long ago that Ward said he would move to 160 for Floyd)

              1. Puts him #1 on the pound for pound list upon the retirement of Floyd Mayweather

              2. Makes him the biggest star in the sport of boxing

              3. Makes him a title holder in 2 weight divisions with the opportunity to be lineal champ in 2 weight divisions simultaneously

              4. Puts him into the hall of fame immediately (with his current streak of title defenses and his pound for pound status)

              5. Would make him the most dominant fighter of the next era of boxing for years to come

Hall of fame fighters in the past capitalized on these opportunities:

Pac moving up 8 weight classes and jumping 2 to defeat De La Hoya
Hopkins jumping 2 to defeat Tarver
Floyd moving up 4 weight classes and moving up to defeat De La Hoya
Jones moving up from MW to HW and winning titles in 4 weight divisions
Duran moving up 2 to defeat Leonard and winning titles at 160 after starting his career at 119
Leonard winning the MW title after starting out at welterweight
Robinson, Armstrong and numerous others all moved up.

Now let's address these counter arguments from the stanboys:

Why don't Floyd be great and move up to fight GGG?

Answer: Floyd's legacy in boxing is established. Now it's GGGs turn.

              Hagler never moved up

Answer: Because 168 wasn't really a recognized/established division yet. And if he had the opportunity to face one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world by moving up, I believe he would.

Moving up is easier for smaller fighters

              See Hopkins and Jones above

Does Ward fear greatness by not moving up to fight Kovalev?

Yes. And he missed out on another opportunity for greatness by not moving up to defeat Dawson.

Im not gonna read thru the whole thread but these guys will pick this whole LEGIT argument apart one way or another and try to justify every single action from GGG.

              That's a fact.

              EDIT:
Looks like I hit the nail right on the head. Read the post above me then refer to his avi.

                Your reading comprehension is lacking.

Just a simple question, i don't want to overwhelm you:

Where is the supposed offer from Ward?

"He has an offer on the table to fight Andre Ward at 168"

                Link please.

They did exactly what I thought. Bring up Floyd, call me a hater, make it a race issue or downplay Ward. A few gave me the answer I wanted though.
