Comments Thread For: J. Mayweather: Anybody Can Fight Berto, But Floyd Can't?

Trainer Jeff Mayweather, uncle to WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) is not surprised with the amount of blowback that his nephew is getting for a potential fight with Andre Berto on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Last month, Mayweather announced that he was going to fight either Berto or Karim Mayfield in what is being pushed as his "final career fight."

Fans lashed out, as Berto started becoming the frontrunner for the date. The fight appears to be leaning in the direction of a network television bout on CBS.

Berto would've been a legit opponent when he was undefeated and world champion. Now? Not so much.

Jeff is having another rant! Why can't Floyd have an easy fight! He's the best ever so that means He has the right to take the easier option. Leave my nephew alone or else he might cry.

Floyd's dad said Floyd should retire instead of taking easy fights. So why can't his uncle say the same?

He would've been legit until he lost. Then haters would say he was too green. Same thing happened with the Alvarez fight.
