About one year ago or maybe more, Ward said he was ready offer GGG $500k for the fight...
... Now Golovkin is asking Ward for 50/50 -- money, weight, position...
... Because, now, everybody from 154 to 168 is talking Golovkin. So, Golovkin must carefully plan his career steps...

therefore, Ward is free to take it or leave it...

Hopkins moved up to 175 because he lost twice to Taylor and literally nothing else was left for him at 160, where he spent almost 15 years fighting at. Hopkins wanted to redeem those losses, he wanted a legacy fight. He also said it was very hard for him to make 160 towards the end, he is 6'1 and obviously had the body frame to move up (look how muscular he was against Tarver).

As I've said before, Hopkins and Golovkin have extremely similar careers so far. Hopkins for years was avoided by the other title holders (mainly because of Don King) and Hopkins was forced to grind it out for YEARS fighting the best available opponents to him. Likewise, the other title holders have not been willing to get in the ring with Golovkin and he's been forced to fight the best guys available (typically top ten guys just like Hopkins). Eventually, at the age of 36, Hopkins finally got a unification fight against Holmes and then following a unification and big fight against Trinidad. Likewise, Golovkin is on the verge of getting a unification against Lemieux and hopefully followed by another unification and big fight against Canelo. Hopkins had a total of 20 title defenses, Golovkin is already at around 14. At the time, people said Hopkins should move up in weight, go to 168/175 and fight bigger names. People even accused Hopkins of ducking the Roy Jones rematch, a fight that Hopkins would have needed to move up in weight. But Hopkins stayed disciplined and eventually the big fights came to him. Same is being said about Golovkin. The patience and hard work paid off for Hopkins and it can for Golovkin as well. I do believe Golovkin will move up in weight sooner than Hopkins did though.

        Very, very similar.
the WBA (REG) World title is counted as an actual title now?

If anything, the legit belt, WBA (SUPER) World title has only been defended 3 times by GGG. Are you also counting the unsanctioned IBO title as well? While Hopkins title defenses were Legit titles.

Hopkins had the IBF belt which he first one in a vacant title fight in 1994, at the time the IBF wasn't even widely recognized. My point here isn't to say Hopkins and Golovkin are identical in every way, but that they are similar. Hopkins defending his lessor known title in relative obscurity for many years before getting his big break, and Golovkin doing the same.

Lol. And the Flo mos jumped with them.

Arguing with each other on here has become a way of life for those guys. They arn't gonna stop just because the Floyd/Manny issue has been settled.

164 is fair, why should GGG have to move up or Ward have to move down? meet in the middle.

                  LMAO @ everyone talking GGG.

Cotto and Canelo have both given him the "go play somewhere, I'm busy" signal.

                  Mayweather brushed him off.

Froch isn't fighting him. Neither is Chavez Jr.

                  So who is everybody?

Of course he could easily make 164. All he has to do is cut water weight. What's Ward's fight night weight, like 176? Or is it... more? Cutting 12 pounds is nothing for a boxer, unless they weigh a lot more.

                      Canelo typically cuts 15+ pounds
Ronda Rhousey is a smaller person and she cut 17 pounds in 1 day
JCC Jr cuts 100+ pounds every time he fails to make weight
                      etc.

Not a big deal, right? Going up in weight is a lot harder. It's 100x harder to gain muscle mass.

Ward should just take this. He's not the A-side, and he's not even a big name draw, yet Golovkin is offering him 50/50 to make an easily manageable weight...
