Of course he is going to throw Mayweathers name out there. Same with Ward calling him out at '60.

You are going to make concessions to get your hat in discussions with the biggest money name in the entire sport.
Most of us on boxing scene would say we would fight Mayweather at 154 for the money. Hell, I would and I am 6'5.

They can wheel me in on a stretcher to get punched, but I'd try like hell to do it.

Remember DLH? You had everyone Roy Jones, Abraham to really small dudes calling him out for the money.

Of course he's gonna fight someone worse and concede stuff to them.

I believe to be competitive with Ward, he has to seek any advantage he's going to get.

And he tried to. It's been done a million times in boxing.
Yup, I agree..... but basically what you just said is that Ward is too good.

        That is a blatant duck.

        • 168 triple G weighing whatever he wants so he will still be comfortable making mw limit 60/40 split in favor of triple G since agreeing to full 168 make it co main to cotto/Alvarez fight in nov both guys get ppv fight and maximizes profits in process

But jr, Golovkin had the right, and the willingness, to fight Froch at 168

Golovkin had the right, but was unwilling, to face Ward at 168.

You can call that whatever you like bro, but I know what I am calling it.

GGGs side offered 164lbs..Ward dont want it

I know what im calling it

            • You guys might aswell not bother talking about this fight for the time being. It wont happen until Ward's team is actually willing to negotiate. I like the idea some people have brought up though. Ward could offer 60-40 in favor of Golovkin so he comes in at the full 68. But again, they seem more intent of just having Golovkin meet their terms.

In fact, I'd argue, that in the old days things were WORSE than they were today!

                For example:
                Kid Lavigne vs. Joe Walcott

                Queens, NY. December 2nd, 1885

Joe Walcott was a welterweight champion who received a challenge from the promoter of Kid Lavigne, the lightweight champion. Now remember, this was the 1800's and everything from stipulations were negotiated and nothing was out of the question as long as both sides agreed.

Basically the deal was that Joe Walcott had to knock the smaller Lavigne out within 15 rounds or he would lose the fight. The condition for Walcott was that he couldn't come in any heavier than 133 pounds making it one of boxing's first catchweight fights. Both fighters came in at 131 and 1/2 pounds for the bout. Walcott had his way with the smaller Lavigne for most of the fight but did show signs of fatigue according to ring side observers.

Since Walcott had to win by knockout he began to get desperate despite putting a beating on the smaller Lavigne. Leaving him self open he was dropped in the 13th and proceeded to take a beating in the 14th in which he had to hold on to the ropes to keep him self up, according to those who reported the fight.
Well I know SR Robinson was known as a difficult negotiator in his day, but geez its becoming contagious! There weren't like 17 divisions then and fighters didn't behave sissy like..

Small in the sense he makes weight easily and his trainer has said he doesn't gain much weight at all after his fights, which is why they'd be confident in dropping to 154 for Mayweather. Canelo has weighed in at 172 before, which is higher than a few of Golovkins fight night weights, so no. In height and reach he's bigger, but weight and ability to fit it into a frame? Nah.

Your picture also doesn't prove anything.

Maybe it's more about fighting the best where you feel best.

                    If that's ducking, whatever.

                    Ward does it too.

                    • Just reading the comments...all of this is a result of Cotto ducking GGG, Cotto stans wouldve never hid behind Ward if Cotto just fought his mando
