A brawler is a terrible term for a boxer and iron chin is used when a guy gets hit there to much because he has little defense. When I think of brawler, I think of Ricardo Mayorga. & Morales was never a counter puncher? lol ok bro.

Damn man you'd think iron chin was an insult listening to you. Morales was a great boxer, but an aggressive one.

That is actually a really good comparison. They both have that sort of evil side to them, too. I think the biggest difference would just be that Morales had a bit better defense, while Kovalev is a more lethal puncher.

All Mexican greats were coming-forward brawlers with iron chin. Marquez, Lopez and Barrera are the exception. I personally don't consider Marquez as a Mexican great though. His legacy revolves around Pacquiao K.O and compettitve fights, nothing else.
He lost to Barrera "robbery", and to Pacquiao 2 times + Draw. He doesn't have any other significant win.

Don`t mention it, and In this site there is much ignorance and animosity against the Mexican boxing, but it's pure unreal ****.

Historically:

Mexican Boxing = Skill, Much Aggressiveness, Combinations, Body Shots(masters of hooks to the body), Power, Heart and Stamina.

Results: + 180 champions of the world. And with U.S.A, the more numerous fighters in the hall of fame.

Actually that's not a Russian style. The Mexican style is what he's talking about because it's a come forward, aggressive style.

If you watch the Soviet school of boxing, it's more upright and technical. They understand that fighting like a Mexican brings more fans because it's more exciting.

You need to watch more Mexican greats. Barrera turned into a great boxer puncher late in his career, Finito Lopez was just that a boxer and Marquez was the quintessential counter puncher.

Sergey Kovalev is truly spectacular. He will go down as a top 3 fighter of our generation, and GOAT LHW, no doubt. Wow
