Why is no one interested in Cuban style?
In my opinion, "Mexican style" isn't entertaining at all, it is just ****** to go face first and absorb punches like sponge, and you are called "Warrior"
No for Mayweather/Sugar Ray Leonard style, No for ****** Mexican style.
Cuban is the best.Comment

Better than Mexican style, it's opa Kolav style!!
Lol Jk
But seriously, he pushes forward with the aggressiveness of a Mexican but possesses the power and technique of a seasoned Eastern Euro assassin.Comment

Mods-Since Kov is stereotyping the way Mexicans fight, am I allowed to stereotype when commenting?

If you look at history, the good/great Mexican boxers were not "brawlers." Most were aggressive counter punchers ie. Sanchez, Barrera, Morales, Marquez... (and just for note) for someone to say JCC Sr. was a brawler would mean they dont know **** about boxing. With that said, I can agree that a majority of Mexican boxers are what some may call brawlers but boxing is a huge sport in Mexico and among Mexican Americans so the sport is dilluted with Mexicans, if the sport were dilluted with blacks, whites, asians etc, thered be a large majority of brawlers in those cultures as well, and I say this because I think we all can agree when it comes to boxing, a brawler is referred to fighters with no skill, smarts, or athleticism.
All Mexican greats were coming-forward brawlers with iron chin. Marquez, Lopez and Barrera are the exception. I personally don't consider Marquez as a Mexican great though. His legacy revolves around Pacquiao K.O and compettitve fights, nothing else.
He lost to Barrera "robbery", and to Pacquiao 2 times + Draw. He doesn't have any other significant win.Last edited by mezoomozaa; 07-22-2015, 01:11 PM.Comment

Morales has never been a counter puncher!

Don't underestimate GGG or Kovalev's claim of "Mexican style". They are both more than that. They are more like power boxers but moreso on the power than the boxing.
They can box if they choose to and Kovalev showed that when he kept right there with Hopkins and didn't get sloppy. GGG has plenty of tools in his arsenal and variety if he decides to show more off than just power punching.
When I think "Mexican style", Brandon Rios and Margarito come to mind, lol.Comment
