LOL. Everyone trying to be Mexican in boxing these days. Erislandy Lara would be smart to copy Sergey "El Krusher" Kovalev, Gennady "Dios de la Guerra" Golovkin & "Dinero" Floyd Mayweather & hijack some Mexican culture.

I'm telling you man, if all Mexicans/Latinos suddenly vanished from the sport of boxing this thing would be as dead as Donald Trump's NBC/Macy's/television partnerships. Especially Mexicans *whispers* 'we run dis ****'

No but seriously I don't take offense to this "Mexican Style" branding. Hell it has some truth to it, most Mexicans fight with pure heart going forward toe to toe, not backing down, etc. If these Russians want our fanbase and reap the benefits of the largest market in boxing (Mex/Mex-American) then they need to fight like us, like warriors. kudos

I'll consider him one of my people if he changes his name to Sergio Kovalevez.

Any and every race has warriors, he is just saying this stuff to win over the majority fanbase. Call me overly sensitive but Im not going to hop on the Russian bandwagon just to see them beat the black guy like most want them to do.

I'd rather Kovalev didn't start doing this, too. One thing I love about Kovalev is his versatility and skill set, focusing on crowd entertainment instead of how best to win a fight will get his ass beat by someone.

Marquez does fit the mold to some degree, he is an aggressive hard hitting counter puncher, definitely skilled but generally offense oriented, and he doesn't fight anything like Floyd. I think the misconception is that some think that being an offensive fighter means you don't have skill. Roberto Duran was a come forward fighter but he was also hard to hit, and was well schooled in every aspect of the game. If you want to believe what some boxing hipsters on here say about offensive come forward fighters that's your own deal, but you could also argue the same about "slick" fighters in that they have limited offensive skills. I don't find it offensive in any way, and I don't know why a fellow Mexican should. Outside these forums it's generally considered a compliment, I mean you saw how well received Mayweather's "schooling" was.

And most Mexicans like GGG, so I am not sure what's the big deal. Honestly man you sound a little insecure.

Enough with the Mexican style chit. Boxers and promoters seem to get dummer by the day. Boxing = running and fighting bums = mexican style????

Is it suggesting Mexicans only know how to fight 1 way hence making them 1 dimensional? & lastly are these Russians trying to capitalize on a weak Mexican boxing era basically making it seem as if we have no one to root for except a Russian?
