Thing is, GBP doesn't have a lot of leverage at HBO. They're already protecting one MW from GGG, who HBO is all in on. And besides Canelo they don't bring that much. So they may be willing to sacrifice Lemieux if HBO pushes hard enough.

I don't have faith in Oscar making this fight now. I hope I'm wrong.

If HBO pays a good amount for the fight and agrees to air his next fight win, lose or draw, I don't see how Golden Boy could turn it down.

You should be thankful for HBO who have Pacquaio, Klitschko, Golovkin, Canelo, Kovalev, Cotto, Roman, Crawford, Fury, Matthysse, Ward (potentially), Walters, Lomochenko, Lemieux.

PBC has Mayweather (for 1 fight), Thurman, Garcia, Lara, Stevenson, Khan, Porter, Quillen, Wilder, etc.

Besides Mayweather and Khan, which fighters for PBC are stars? Wilder may have potential but i see him getting KTFO against real competition. Thurman can be a star but it's clear when you compare lists of fighters HBO has the real stars.

Yeah, GBP doesn't have much leverage, or much of a TV presence, since they've lost the Fox Sports 1 deal, and HBO has been giving GBP some HBO Latino dates while they're between Fox Sports 1 and whatever network they end up on.

Meanwhile, Antonio Orozco was moved into one of Top Rank's TruTv cards, and he looks lined up for a fight with Humberto Soto.

Mauricio Herrera was just on HBO Latino and he could be looking at an HBO fight his next time out (he's been mentioned as a potential opponent for Crawford).

GBP has a lot more fighters than just Lemieux, and if HBO offers them a good deal, and perhaps commits some future date(s), maybe it's worth his, and their, while.

The more I think about it, if the moneys right, make the fight now. Why should they wait? He's not some undefeated prospect or something. He's a good fighter, and pretty close to a finished product IMO. Even if he loses, I would still like to watch him fight. I think this should be tournament style, with the winner of Cotto-Canelo fighting the winner of GGG-Lemiux, and the losers could fight each other too.

As far as I saw, he just said it's possible.

They could feed off the lower end of the IBF... but HBO definitely won't buy anybody available in the top 15 IBF.... and don't think GBP wants to keep paying him his minimum w/o the backing.

GGG in the same boat... he don't have ish.... best Oscar can do is get extra dates from HBO and put his fighters on the undercard and hope for the best

Yeah they have fighters, but nobody HBO wants badly other than Canelo. To get them all dates they may have to show they can play ball and give up Lemieux.

If they had the leverage from 3 years ago, theyd turn it down in no time, since Lemieux is quite marketable on his own and him vs Canelo is a fireworks unification
