I can't help but wonder why Joe Gallaghers fighters can't slip, counter or parry a jab?
Anybody else noticed this?
I mean Paul Smith his only answer is to block the jab via his forehead as displayed against Abraham x2 and Ward.
Same with Squigg it was evident against the Cuban who easily won the first 5 rounds throwing nothing but a jab yet for some unknown reason he abandoned that and did nothing for the rest of the duration - always thought this was a bit fishy personally. He wasn't getting his jab countered or anything and I don't believe Squigg did adjust just the Cuban stopped jabbing allowing him to walk in and get his shots off.
Again last night Kiko Martinez of all fighters a guy with the wingspan of a baby pigeon was getting through with every jab he threw. If you are getting outjabbed by Kiko Martinez, something is very wrong there whether you dispatch of him in 2 rounds or not there is cause for concern.
That alone is why Frampton beats Squigg.
You have both Murray brothers.
Joe Gallagher had an amateur career, I don't think he went pro and considering its a huge part of the basics and a big part of our amateur system it baffles me as to why he hasn't taught a single fighter how to parry or slip a jab, crucial in the pros as well as the amateurs.
These fighters will be screwed when they step up. I think Squigg would have a very hard time dealing with some of the lower end world level fighters. Some of the Japanese fighters who are super durable and do the basics well nevermind the elite. Framptons opponent from last night for one I could see him giving Squigg absolute hell.
Just keep him on the end of your jab and you can see the wheels turning in his head. He don't know what to do or how to avoid it.
