All the talk of Kovalev-Ward has come from Kathy Duva who has been pestering Roc Nation about it because Haymon took all the other opponents, and "before the end of 2016" is the earliest I've read.
All I've heard from Hunter and Ward is that they intend to return to 168.Comment

I am a Ward fan, but I don't like his picky ass rules. He is a gifted boxer no doubt, deserves all respect. I like GGG more, but. . .
My unbiased opinion,
Ward beats GGG thoroughly and maybe even embarrasses him.
But Kovalev, sorry Ward, Kovalev is way too big, strong, smart for you IMO. His deadly liver shots, relentless nature, sadistic attitude, and quite possibly the hardest P4P puncher in the sport. I don't see it man, Ward being the smaller man and he's already known for being a feather fisted puncher in his division lolLast edited by BOMB ZQUAD; 07-18-2015, 03:57 AM.Comment

Some of you guys try to make it out like in boxing the venue of the fight would be such a big factor like in team sports. Stop it, it's not. You know that, I know that, we all know that. What you considers Kovalev's home town btw? Tampa? Chelyabinsk? I should praise him because he doesn't defend his belt in Chelyabinsk? He is in the USA because the bigger exposure and bigger career.lmao what? overrated?
Kovalev went to ALL his top opponents backyards and beat them in their own home. Something Ward doesn't particularly like
I can imagine Kovalev landing a bloody dangerous liver shot onto Ward and ending it. I can't picture Ward, being the smaller and weaker man beat Kovalev. You're also underrating Kovalev's ring IQ.
I agree, GGG will most likely lose.
Ward is in jeopardy against Kovalev, he knows this too, I remember Ward calling Kovalev the "boogeyman"
Nobody underrates Kovalev's ring IQ. Everybody says that he has it but you are the one who overreach if you think that his ring IQ is comparable to Ward's. I mean you can say that Kovalev is technically solid and not just a brawler, that's true, but please don't make it out like he would be same mastermind. Ward has just as obvious edge in ring IQ over him as Kovalev has a power edge over Ward. If you have less ring IQ than Ward that doesn't mean that you are dumb because Ward is in the top 5 smartest fighters in the world probably. Same as, if I tell that someone has less power than Kovalev than that's not a shame because Kovalev is a p4p wise top 5 puncher right now probably.
He called him "boogeyman" on the most sarcastic way you can imagine. It was in an interview. I know that many people can't detect sarcasm, but that was so obvious... Hell, he even laughed when he said that, I don't know how it could be more obvious. He referred Kovalev as a typical type of fighter (boogeyman), the hyped monster who supposed to beat everyone.Last edited by HEND; 07-18-2015, 03:49 AM.Comment

You can't really compare the two's ring IQ. The people Ward have beaten Kovalev would have too.. Doesn't take a genius to realize this. And Kovalev has brutally beaten almost every opponent thrown in front of him, it's rather difficult to judge someone's IQ when no one gives him a challenge.Comment
