EUBANKS IS RATED AS ONE OF THE FIVE MOST UNDERRATED FIGHTERS IN THE WORLD IN ONE OF MY EDITIONS OF THE RING MAGAZINE (EDITION FROM EARLY 90S SOMETIME MAYBE 92).
Actually it was KO Magazine.
Eubank got no love in The Ring, but in KO Mag he was their boy!
Eubank told an American reporter in 1989 - "your going to be watching the best fighter in the world tonight". His confidence was immense, right upto the Benn fight. But the Benn fight humbed him and brought him back down to earth, he really under-estimated Benn (which sounds nuts, but this was Eubank). He was in a terrible state in the weeks after the Benn fight, and from then on his heart just wasn't in the game anymore.
ive got his DVD set & he does seem 2 be on another planet in his earlier days around 89, very unrealistic, said stuff right after fights like every middle weight in the world was duckin him & stuff but he'd only had a few fights (& against stiffs ) lol
It was before his fight later that night on the Azumah Nelson/Jimmy McDonnell undercard. The main event that night was supposed to be Mike McCallum/Michael Watson for the world middleweight title - on Fireworks Night 1989, but McCallum/Watson was postponed (because Watson broke his nose in his last sparring session before the fight). Anyway, Eubank was an outspoken up-coming middleweight and American's wanted to take a look at him, so he was pencilled to appear on the McCallum/Watson card which would be screened live across America on NBC.
y dont u post this up on youtube or somethin ? i dont have his fight on that card
