It really is. No doubt Vitali was a hell of a fighter, but he didn't beat anyone. His best wins are all dead average fighters. It's like if Golovkin retired today.

Vitali's returning after a four-year layoff at age 37 and dominating all his opponents for 4 years is very impressive.

No one else has ever done that.

jorge kahwagi came back from a ten tear layoff at age 47 and dominated.

What's shocking? He fought who he could at the time. Its not his fault there were no good fighters around then.

You're right it's not his fault but that don't change the fact his resume is weak.

He will deservedly get in. I always enjoyed watching him fight. He was special and boy was he a machine. He will get knocked for dominating a weak era but he dominated the way any great fighter would have in his era. I'll be glad to see him get in. And he will get in I his first year of eligibility.

So if Ali or Lewis or any other known great was in an era like Vitali's where maybe the competition wasnt outstanding would you say they are not deserving.

Vitali did what any past great would do in an era like his. Straight up dominate and manhandle the competition for years. If any past great heavyweight had this kind of conpetition he would have dominated just like Vitali did. Vitali did what any great would do, just totally dominate. His fights were not close(besides Lewis and Lewis is one of the best heavies of all time). Cong**** to Vitali when he gets in
