Former two division world champion Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31KOs) is rapidly approaching the point of a one-year layoff.

Concerns have been raised after recent photos of Maidana surfaced on the internet, and the boxer appears to have gained quite a bit of weight.

Maidana had three tough fights in less than a year, with his big win over Adrien Broner and then back to back Showtime pay-per-view fights against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

After that rough schedule, the Argentinian puncher wanted to take some time off to relax with his family.

He should retire, he's got money, his style doesn't age well at all, and there's zero chance he'll be motivated by a big pay cut and lesser named competition. He's never liked the fight game anyway.

On the flip side, this is the perfect time for Brook, Thurman, and Porter to jump on him. I wouldn't say Khan because Chino would salivate at the chance to avenge that loss.

Maidana made some good back to back paydays and is now just sitting back and enjoying the fruits of his labor. A few mil here is like billions in his country. I'm sure when he's good and ready he'll whip himself back into shape and be a force once again.
