With Lamon Brewster losing his belt, to Chris Byrds inevitable loss to Wlad Klitchko, Toney and Rahman coming to a draw, I find myself yearning for those days when I was kid where there was only one Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World. And his name was Ali! If you wanted the belt you didnt have to look far.If you beat Ali, that was it. No other belts (if there were any) were unheard of and I as a fan am sick and tired of the bull#^%&*&&( going on in boxing with all these belts. Tell me what you think! The Coagulator
Will there ever be a unified Heavyweight Champion again? If so when and who?

I think for the most part, Don King is slowly loosing his grip on the division.. that has to be a good thing for the unification of the HW division.
Current champs
Byrd - to fight Wlad in a few weeks
Valuev - not sure about upcoming fights, still has to prove himself
Rahman - to fight Maskaev? , too many lacluster performances to be 'the one', neither fighter is strong enough
Liakhovich - manditory rematch for Brewster?
my best guess at this time, as strange as it may sound, would be either Liakhovich or Klitshcko being the unified champion. Liakhovich has good defense and a good chin, as well as crisp punches. Klitschko has excellent offensive skills and has progressed in his training.
how eager are these fighters to unify? -
More than likely James Toney.
Because he's always in shape, has the power to keep big heavyweights off him, and is the most skilled heavyweight.

In the fight against Rahman, where most of the punches landed on Toney were jabs, Toney was still gassed midway through the fight.
Now I know that James can still fight even when tired, but I only seeing him attaining a decision win, if anything over the top HW fighters.
How is he going to win a UD against someone throwing more effective punches than jabs in those later rounds? I'd say Toney either gets TKO'd in later rounds or gasses out and doesn't win a solid decision, therefore losing to a champ (who gets the benefit of a close decision)..

If I had to pick a fighter that I thought even comes close to the guys of my childhood...Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Norton, Holmes, Spinks...I would have to say James "Lights Out" Toney. Experience wise, he has the most, problem I see though is he lacks that HW power. Don't get me wrong...He can knock out just about anybody, but you know the power I'm talking about...and when he comes in at 230-240, its just too big for him. If James could come in aroung 210-215 he would probably beat any of the the so-called champions of the HW division.Comment
